Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to New Delhi,India
Plane leaves at about 11.15am(Malaysian local time) and arrives at about 4pm(Indian local time).
Get picked up at Delhi Airport..head down to freinds place where Im served hot samosa's and chai ( tea).No better way to warm up during winter.Indians are so hospitable and will make sure your plate is never empty, even if you say no they keep pilling up your plate with food.Tip:Only way to prevent getting stuffed is to eat really slowly. During dinner my hosts cook a delicious mutton preparation which is pressure cooked with brinjal.Since its pressure cooked you can hardly feel the brinjal but it gives a nice texture to the meat.
Delhi is pretty much packed with apartments.Lots of great shopping places too.The most famous is Connaught Place.Lots of shops and eating places are there. But,the local shop keepers really take advantage of you and hike up the price to double and triple.Even with my indian looks i get cheated!!The moment they know your not a local indian...ah...tough luck!
Next day early morning,I hire a private taxi - an old Ambassador to take me to Agra. The family i was staying with said it would be best to go by road instead of by train. With the knowledge that its just close by..will take only about 3 hours! Man... the journey was pretty horrible...I was sandwiched in between of my mom and bro. And we keeped going and going.
We continued for about another 2 hours. Our taxi had to stop about 1 km away from the Taj.From this point onwards only non petrol vechials are allowed. You can get a battery operated auto-rickshaw.Next we purchased our tickets.Cost about 700rupees per person for tourist.Next passed a small security check. After passing a courtyard there infront of me stood majestically the Taj Mahal.God! It was too amazing. The most beautiful architecture I have seen so far.Breathtaking!
Besides the Taj Mahal, I went to Lucknow to visit some relatives.Lots of historic places there too.One was the Bara Imambara.Quite an amazing place. Also had a good time walking around the ruins of the British Residency in Lucknow.
