The Golden Nugget

Its not everyday that you get to stay in a 1500 sq ft hotel suite that stretches over two floors, with a circular staircase, whirlpool bath, plush couches and even your very own shoeshine machine. That's what is called the Spa Suite in the North Tower of the Golden Nugget, Las Vegas. This gigantic Hotel-Casino resort has everything imaginable inside the suite and a lot of stuff which you don't want to think about outside, including a shark tank.

Floor to ceiling windows with soft drapes overlook the pool with downtown Las Vegas in the background. A solid wooden shelf cum bookcase holds a sleek flat screen 42" plasma television. Chandeliers, arsty vases, a classy reclining chair and a soft glow lighting up the rich brown and beige décor gives the entire space a period look. Your own wet bar, a coffee machine, and a champagne bucket await your attention, competing with the double doors which beckon you to exit and inhale the guilty pleasures that only Vegas can offer.

Because what the Golden Nugget has to offer is unmatched by even most of the other Las Vegas Hotels and Casinos - 1,200 slot and video poker machines and 50 table games, a 600-seat showroom featuring headliner entertainers and nightly headline entertainment. And an outdoor pool with live sharks, jacuzzi and private cabanas, a complete spa, salon and fitness center.

And all this is in addition to the upscale shopping and the dining facilities. They should rename this place to the 'Palace of Sin'. Its like something out of a movie set. The rush of people, the slots, the wild poolside parties, the high profile entertainment. These people live in a completely different world from mainstream America. I mean, we're supposed to be in the middle of a recession, and to see this display of gross decadance and the utter lack of concern for money was, well... Slightly disturbing, actually. For the record, the Spa Suite costs $369 per night, and the Golden Nugget is located at 129 E. Fremont St.  Las Vegas, NV 89101. Tel: 800.634.3454 and website - www.goldennugget.com
