Revenge For The Vikings!
The plan was to wake up early today, and actually some of the girls did make it down as far as the bakery and buy some fresh bread for all us. We eventually got up and between Briody, me & Canning, breakfast was cooked. I think Searlait helped out a little too. Breakfast went down a treat. Then it was back out into the snow once more. It was a proper winter wonderland. We failed once again to have a White Christmas in Ireland, at least now we could have a White Easter.
We just strolled around town which yet again appeared abandoned. We soon found ourselves sitting in a bar. We could tell the bar did not have too many tourists coming their way. The woman behind the bar hated us. Lucky there was a Danish couple sat behind us that were obsessed with Tom and decided that I was descended from the Vikings.
He was less impressed when I told him that my ancestor, Brian Boru, was the man that defeated the Vikings in the Battle of Clontarf. The bought us a round and I got them one back. There were 9 of us!! They kept asking us for a song. Once they got us started it was hard to shut us up!Hunger soon got the better of us so we set off in search of one of the many many Italians that we had seen yesterday. They were all full. ALL of them. How?? A few hours ago the city seemed to be abandoned! Where do the people go during the day? Seriously. We felt as though we were missing out. We came across a mexican restaurant (see my below review). There were no seats but the amazingly hot waitress suggested we wait next door in the Irish bar. The barman was so shocked to have Irish people that we gave us a free round of shots.
We did promise to come back but the queue was too large later.Dinner was beautiful. Seriously I wasnt lying in my review. At first I didnt think there was enough on our plates but it was just the right amount. Thats what I love about Mexican food, you're never too bloated afterwards. Subtly, each of us lads tried to let the waitress know that we were interested but the fact that the 3 of us were there with 6 girls, she clearly assumed that we must be with the girls....and yes that is the excuse that I am holding on to for her not meeting us later on as she promised.
Again, we went back home to get changed and have plenty of fun and more than a few drinks. We opted for more drinking games and settled on Kings. What a quality drinking game so long as someone stays sober enough to remember the rules and what each card stands for.
Things got messy, quickly......When we regained the ability to walk again, we set of back down the hill to find a bar or two. Halfway down two taxis pulled up and so could take 7 or 8 of us. To this day I will never understand why myself and Tom did not try to find ourselves a taxi and instead we decided to run all the way there!! We did beat one of the taxi's so I guess that sort of justified it. The barman messed up my order and gave me 5 trebles instead of 2, I decided not to complain.
Had so much fun in this bar. I think I will let the photos tell the rest.
We each ordered something different. It was all delicious. The wine was good. The beer better. The complimentary round of tequila better. That is before I mention how hot the two waitress' were.
I would highly recommend this place if you havent already guessed. The food was very affordable and great quality. I would recommend the chimichanga's.
Tell them Derek sent you (they wont know who Derek is, so probably best not to say it to them).
