Colombo: The same madcap city as before!
July 20, 2008
Sri Lanka: Visiting Andrei's cousin and his wife (left) before he headed off on a work trip to Mongolia!
And I felt remarkably comfortable as we touched down, met up with my Uncle's driver (plus my Dad) and made our way South to our place of residence. Since it was a Sunday, the streets were pretty much deserted when we arrived. When Monday came, what a difference!
The driving here can only be compared to the traffic in Rome! Only the drivers are pretty much completely placid about it all. People cut eachother up at will - cars, buses, tuk-tuks, lorries, tractors, pedestrians (!)... But everyone avoids the cows!
Kerry and I stayed at my Uncle Anselm's for a few days whilst we organised things for our blessing at Mount Lavinia Hotel. This was most convenient and we can't thank my uncle enough for his support.
We sorted out Kerry's homecoming sari, my Sri Lankan National suit, the flowers and a few other things thanks to him. Remember to buy Mlesna tea (his company!) www.mlesnateas.com
Meanwhile my Uncle Ashley was running around for us, too. Many thanks.
Not long to go before the blessing at the hotel, and we could relax!
