Kerry - We were just getting settled into the beach at Hanoi and then left, but more beach awaited us in Mui Ne. We took the night bus to get there from Hoi An. We had to wait for a couple of hrs in Nha Trang as there are no direct buses there. We opted to stay in Mui Ne rather than Nha Trang as it is said to be a nicer beach and also a lot quieter and less developed than Nha Trang. This seemed to be the case . We passed Nha Trang at 6am that morning and it reminded me of Rio, with the beach running along the main road and all the locals out and about doing their excersices and swimming, with numerous high rise hotels in the background.

On arriving in Mui Ne that afternoon, it was much queiter and although there were plenty of choices of resorts and guesthouses to choose from, they were all of a smaller scale and not a high rise in sight! We wandered along, trying to find a place called Hiep Hoa but could not, so opted for a small room or 'bungalow' on the other side of the road, so not facing the beach, but only a short walk away. It was opposite the very luxurious Coco Beach resort, and suited us fine for $12 a night with TV and hot water and AC. ( it had the biggest bathroom we have had in Asia so far! It was really big!).

We spent 2 nights here, and chilled out on the beach mainly. The beach and sea was not as clean as that in Hoi An though, which was a real shame, but it was still a nice place to chill out and the beach was long and a paler golden colour than that in Hoi An. The only disadvantage was that if you are not a guest at a beach side hotel you are not able to use their sun beds and parasols, but there is some shade under the trees. You can do trips to see the local sand dunes, but we just wanted to do nothing.

We ate at Coco Beach one night which was really nice, but pretty pricey for long term travellers. If you are on holiday it would not be expensive really at all. We sat right on the beach listening to the waves and eating our BBQ fish and prawns and it was really nice and romantic! (we are on honeymoon afterall!).

As we came to leave to take the bus to Ho Chih Minh City we stumbled accross Hiep Hoa that we had been looking for on our arrival. WE asked about bungalow prices there and it was very reasonable at $15 a night - for a bungaow with pool, AC and hot water and its own stretch of beach, so if we ever go back i think we may stay there!
