Next was Stonehenge, where we walked the field with a prerecorded handset and listened to the information. This is by far one of the most unusual places on earth. No one really knows when or why or how it was constructed. Somewhere as much as three thousand years prior to Christ these stones were somehow dragged here from many many miles away. Most agree that it was religious in nature. At one time the stones stood on end with one stone across two standing in double circles. And until late in the twentieth century you could touch and climb on, which is why they now are no longer in the nice condition they once were in.
After walking we also got an ice cream cone there. Why does it taste so good on vacation?
