The rain is gone and almost all of the clouds too. It’s a beautiful day and we get to spend it strolling Lucerne.  There was an optional thingy available to take a gondola ride to the top of one of the local very tall mountains, but neither my hubby or I enjoy extreme heights or the possibility of falling very long distances with or without a parachute so we saved our money and stayed on terra firma along with more than half the tour folks.  Instead we all decided to take in the Lion Monument and then downtown area, and a few tried to walk what is left of the city wall.  We had our breakfast and off we went.  The poor city bus driver picked up 25 people at our stop to take them about a mile or less into town.

From there we all walked slowly up the way for a couple of blocks to the park and the monument.  Picture time for all and we enjoyed the detail of the lion carved into the granite.  Then on off for the rest of downtown, naturally hitting nearly every shop for souvenirs and whatever else we could find.  After nearly ten days on the trip my hubby got an urge for French fries from McDonald’s so in he went and got a small hamburger, small fries and a medium coke.  The cost was outrageous, something like 9 francs.

We continued our stroll through the streets of town and generally relaxed until dinner time.  A few of our tour group left the bunch from time to time and a few went back to the hotel. One other couple went along with us late in the afternoon and we found a super spot for dinner.  The menu was Italian, the wine list was excellent and restaurant was nice.  Later we made our way back to the hotel where we drank coffee and sat on the front porch chatting until bed time.  A real great day!

Dinner at the nice Italian restaurant wasn't that expensive, and we quite enjoyed it. Read the review. :)
