Linderhof Castle as an optional afternoon tour for the tour, and this was one we couldn’t miss.  Although it is small by “castle” standards, you have never seen a more ornate blend of gold, crystals, color, and amazing furnishings and details.  King Ludwig live here for 8 years prior to the completion of Neuschwanstein.  The lower level here was the entry foyer and stairs to the upper level and the rest was for the kitchen and staff.  The upper level had a music room, a couple of small corner waiting rooms, the Kings bedroom, his dining room, and a wonderfully elegant sitting room.  Out in front was a wonderful pool and fountain and then stairs and statues up the hill. Very spectacular!  The fountain didn’t run all the time, but when it did it must have been fifty feet up. Incredible!  To the side was a very pretty garden and statue area, an out the back was more great statues, and hillside with grape vines and secret place.  Inside we were allowed photos here.
