As we got off the plane we looked back and got this shot.
At our nice very modern hotel we had to wait while all of the rooms were cleaned and ready. While we were waiting my husband found something in a local paper that sounded good to go and find out about. So we walked to the tramline about a quarter mile over the bridge and headed in to downtown Amsterdam. Then we walked a ways and enjoyed the sites and wonderful architecture and finally found the place we were looking for, Melkweg, an entertainment venue, where one of his favorite smooth jazz groups was performing that evening. Although the prices weren’t bad we decided that we were both too tired to enjoy it. Remember I got no sleep during the flight so I am now up more than 30 hours plus what we lost in time zones.
We made our way slowly and leisurely back to the hotel enjoying as much as we could. We had dinner at the buffet style restaurant in the hotel that evening with all of the people of the tour and the tour director. It was a nice dinner. I must admit after dinner I was ready for a short evening before a long sleep until morning.
Our first hotel in Europe
I was very nicely impressed with this, our first hotel on our tour of Europe. Being the first time in Europe I think I expected something in a more old world design. But this is a newer four star, tall tower, made of glass and aluminum. It has 368 rooms and three restaurants and a lounge. Also meeting rooms, sauna, steam bath, and fitness room we here. It was very clean, our room was large and nicely furnished in modern furniture and the staff was helpful friendly. Our tour had dinner in the buffet style restaurant and breakfast there also in the morning, and it was very good, with several choices.
