Jeff posing like another travbuddy a month ago. :-)
Lauro called me once the travelbuddy ambassador for Bratislava, Jeff used this expression while he visited me as well. With the increasing number of travelbuddies coming over, I might claim this title myself, hahaha.
I’ve met Jeff already during the pre-meetup in Antwerp (Belgium) in May, it was a bit different compared to the other cases when I knew the people only from chatting on travelbuddy.
Jeff was coming the best time he could. I was supposed to have birthday soon and organized a party a couple of days earlier due to several reasons like people on vacation a week later and so on.
Jeff observing what's going on.
It wasn’t just my birthday party to be true, two girls from my former company were celebrating as well. It made everything much easier for me as we could split the work and the costs. Because we expected over 30 people to come. Most of them were our former colleges and there weren’t only Slovaks invited but a lot foreigners as well. A really multinational celebration, Jeff just fit in perfectly, hahaha.
Friday afternoon I left my office at around 3pm and hurried up to get in time to the Bratislava airport. Jeff’s plane was supposed to arrive from Stockholm at 4:15pm. However, everything worked well, I brought him to my place and later we went to center where we had tables reserved in a restaurant called “Primi”. Me and the 2 gils I celebrated with were a bit afraid of the weather forecast which announced a storm with strong wind Friday evening, but there must be something about Jeff’s aura, then he brought us good weather. No storms at all.
It was a suddenly a pretty funny evening with loads of good friends of ours, some good food and pretty much alcohol.
Me with my ex-colleges Benjamin from Mozambique and Marian from Slovakia.
Of course we didn’t end up in Primi, some of us moved later to a disco pub nearby for some “body shaking” hehe. Saturday afternoon (we got up pretty late to be honest) was the sightseeing day for Jeff, my good friend Dan from Sweden (a travelbuddy as well) joined us.
I won’t annoy you with details, just come yourself to see how Bratislava looks like.
However, it was fun having Jeff here and showing him around. We laughed a lot together, chatted about everything possible from ridiculous topics to serious stuff like politics. Jeff, you are definitely welcome to come back again whenever you want.
Nice place in Bratislava's old center with a big courtyard
Primi is located just next to the Michael's Gate (Michael's Tower) which serves as an entrance to the Old town. It has a big courtyard and also enough tables inside. Especially the atmosphere outside is very pleasant during the warm summer days. The food ranges from pizza to common dishes, the drinks from non alcoholic beverages, over beer and coctails to harder stuff.
The prices are more or less comparable with other restaurants and bars in the old town.
It's really a nice place worth a visit when you are in Bratislava, but it's not really suitable for backpackers who are on a tight budget.
