Wilsons Prom
July 5, 2008
Wilson's Prom is one of Victoria's most popular National Parks. It's 130 km coastline is framed by granite headlands, mountains, forests and fern gullies. Tidal River is the main recreational area and has a camping/caravan park with a convenience store, restaurant, cafe and open air cinema and is popular with families. Wildlife in the park is of abundance with plenty of Kangaroos, Wallabies, Wombats, Possums, snakes birds you name it!
The park's other main attraction is its popular overnight hikes which takes you to some of the most spectacular parts of the park. Overnight hikes can be completed in 3 to 4 days depending on the route and designated camp sites are set up specifically for hikers. Day hikes are equally as popular from Tidal River up to Mount Oberon, the highest point in the park and Sealer's Cove the first leg of the classic 3 day circuit.
Beaches range from golden sands of Tidal River and Oberon Bay to the white quartz sands of Squeaky Beach and Little Waterloo Bay.
We have now done this hike twice and plan to do it again in November this year with friends.
