Just a drive around town

Kilgore will "grow" on you.
Everyone always talk about how boring small towns are and, but I live here in Kilgore, Texas and I kinda like. I wasn't quite sure what it would be like living in such a small town, but it has really grown on me.  I work as the Campus Minister at the Christian Campus Center at Kilgore College. I also teach Religion course at the college. It is a nice college with about 5000 students from the local area.

We have quite a few hotels in town as well as some pretty good little restuarants. I have included some photos of the drive in and around.

The Worlds riches acre has to be one of the highlights. Oil is very import, even today. When you drive up Hwy 42 all you see are oil field companies and trucks.

We have the world famous Rangerettes here as well. You have to check them out at: www.rangerette.com Photos and all kinds of good info about them are there. They have camps for young girls who want so badly to become a Rangerette. Many of them go on to be Dallas Cowboy Cheerleadres, A NYC Rockette and other dance professionals. The city and this area are pretty proud of them. Even President Bush got in with them and had them out to DC for his inaugaral.

There is a lot of Texas pride around here. You can see the flag painted everywhere. I like that there is not too  much traffic in the city. Kilgore is still close to everything:  Dallas, 2 hrs by car or 30 minutes by plane; Houston, 3 hrs by car; Austin 4.5 hrs by car; Shreveport, LA 40 minutes by car and a lot of other little town within a stones through.

I have made a lot of friends and have a great church family. There are quite a few churches to worship with, we are in the Bible belt. I don't want to sound like the chamber, but I the more and more I am involved with this site, the more and more I find myself liking where I live. And the more I like where I live, the more I want to share it with others.

Wow, Killgore's a lot bigger now! I lived in Frankston for a year and would go up there once in a while.

Thanks for your comment. I like that I can leave and come back. In the big city, there is not really any reason to leave, or is there? Cheers.
