Phillips, Craig and Dean

Today didn’t start off too good, but the way it ended makes up for all that could have and did go wrong. This was the day that all faculty had to report back to work. We would be served a good hot full breakfast and listen to some, generally, dry presentations. I try never to speak badly about these obligations for many reason, so I won’t today. The president of the college, Dr. Bill Holda, always gives a very uplifting and to the point talk to us. Today he didn’t disappoint. He reminded all of us about the good work we were doing here in E Texas and congratulated us on our enrollment and student evaluations. Positive feedback does wonders for people. The sessions ended pretty much on time which allowed us all to get back to doing all the other things that will now consume most of our days even before we begin one lecture. Well, I made it through and got to enjoy the one thing I had been looking forward to for weeks.

I attend the Phillips, Craig and Dean concert at the Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler.

It was the most incredible concert I have been to in a good long time. The crowd was great, the songs were inspiring and the group was out of this world.

Phillips Craig and Dean have been around for about 17 years and have won numerous awards, have had many number one hits and sold millions of albums. I have everyone of them. The sang some of their best know songs like, Turn on the Radio, which was their first hit on the radio in 1991, The Favorite Song of all, Mercy came a Running and so many more of my favorites.

They took time to talk about one of the charities they support: Food for the Hungry. This Christian organization helps to feed children in some of the poorest countries in the world. You can check them out at if you would like some more info. I many others took on the sponsorship of a child for 1 year at$32 a month.

Dan Dean, Paul Baloche, Randy Phillips and Shawn Dean
I am sure this will be more of a blessing to me than the little boy named Juan Manuel Ferreira Piron of the Dominican Republic. For an 8 year old boy, he already has a story. Not a very good one, but a story. A story maybe I can help to write.

Well, they broke for a few minutes which gave me a chance to meet the people sitting next to me. Terry and her son Colin were really nice and we shared some stories and exchange good wishes. Come to find out, Colin’s sister is married to and performs with a professional musician out of New York. Got his info and will look he up soon. They were fun to sit next to and you can see them in one of the movies I posted. Colin is a student at Tyler Junior College and likes to play soccer. He also works at a pretty well known restaurant in town.

We were also treated with a surprise appearance by Paul Baloche the songwriter from Tyler, TX who wrote such songs as Open the Eyes of My Heart; Here I am to Worship and so many more great songs that have been covered and sang by various artists like Michael W.

Paul Baloche was their special guest
Smith, PCD and many more Christian musicians. He was great. They were al great. They ended the concert with “I am Friend of God.” Everyone seemed to really enjoy the free concert as I did.

We talk a lot about what we did and what we say when we write these blogs, I just wanted to say that didn’t just see or hear, but I felt. I felt lifted up and refreshed. I am glad that I took a couple of hours to leave the phone at home and to be a part of some great worship on a rainy Monday evening in Tyler, Texas.
