There is nothing greater than seeing a young man come to Christ through Baptism. This is my friend Mason Sherrill. Mason was one of my students at the college for 3 semesters. He took various Bible courses from me and we would often talk about salvation, church and his relationship with God. Mason knew he wanted to be baptized, but really wanted his grandfather, Bill Sherrill, one of the Elders at N Street Church of Christ in
Mason entire family was there. Most of them drove up from
Bill spoke awhile before they entered the water and then they gave me the opportunity to speak about Mason as well. I was pretty cool to see the results of a couple of years of building a relationship with someone, helping them to find who they are in Christ and they taking that leap of faith towards Christ. Many can’t understand how important this is for a Christian, but man, it is.
After we experienced this life changing moment, which actually felt like a lifetime, we went in for a great home cooked meal. There was so much food, and I was so hungry, I forget to get some shots of it. It was all topped off by some great deserts including a made from scratch coconut cake, which I took 2 pieces home with me, chocolate pies, coconut crème pies, and the list goes on and on.
I am very proud of Mason and I feel just a little sense of accomplishment as well. When we do are jobs right, we generally see the results right away, in ministry, it may not be visible for a long time, but if we are blessed, we see it in every face, every life and every moment of a new Christians life. Congrats Mason on making a decision you will cherish for eternity. A verse for you, Galatians 2:20.
