This is just a few photos and reflections of Kilgore, Texas. A small, quiet town I now call home.

Housewarming Party

I just bought a new home and had a small party. Some friends came by and we ate and drank and they brought gifts and I gave them gifts. It was a good time.  The day was absolutely perfect. The weather was nice and evryone seemed to have a great time. I served a variety of foods and drinks including some great artisian cheeses and breads from Whole Foods. Yes, I had to drive to Dallas to get it earlier in the week, but people seemed to love it.

I received some really great gifts including hundreds of dollars of gift cards to Lowes, quite a few bottles of wine, some really cool wine glasses, gourmet foods, candles, crystal and the list goes on. Thanks everyone.

Cajun Seafood in Kilgore
It is nice when you can find something other than Mexican to eat right in KIlgore. This a great small, family owned CLEAN place to come and grab some pretty good cajun seafood. What they lack in size, they make up in taste. The food is really pretty good. They have very reasonable size portions and the prices are fair for the area. Mudbugs are the star of the show, but they also have some very good fried shrimp and catfish. I don't like catfish, but all who eat theirs say it is some of the best in the area. Theat is a pretty good plug for Kilgore considering some many people like catfish in this area. The menu is fairly simple, whichj is a good thing, and includes various fried foods like fish and shrimp. They offer meat pies, boiled crawfish, crab alligator and even a nice little menu for kids. The side order menu is pretty extensive including boudin balls and fried mushrooms.

I alays get the 6 piece fried shrimp which comes with fries and hushpuppies. I like to throw in an order of fried mushrooms and I can walk out paying under 13 bucks. Good price and quite a bit od food.

The seating are is small, but very very clean. They have local high school items hanging around which gives you a feeling of community. They also sell some pretty funny t-shirts that has mudbug, crawfish to many others, with a pretty strange expression on his face with the words, "Suck What" circling him. Everyone knows you suck all the meat out of a crawfish, so get your minds out of the gutter.

This palce is well worth the time if you are ever near the area.
