A few weeks ago, LoganBruin sent me a message after seeing I live in Chaska.
He said “You live in Chaska? I know somebody named Chaska.” He then proceeded to tell me about the band she is a part of called “Raining Jane”. I googled them and quickly found the RainingJane.com web site. First, I wonder what did I need Google for, but then I get down to business and start listening to their music. Their music intrigued me, so I checked out their upcoming gigs and saw “September 3, 7 PM, Ritsche Auditorium, Saint Cloud, Minnesota”. Hoping, but not sure I could make, I tentatively make a note of it on my calendar.
Fast forward to September 3, 2008, work has been chaotic and stressful again this week, so I decided I needed to do something different and hopefully fun. After work on Wednesday, September 3, I headed to Saint Cloud to attend my first Raining Jane concert and meet a girl named Chaska. Despite being a really long day having awoken at 5 AM and not returning until midnight, it was a great day. More accurately, it was a great evening thanks to Raining Jane. Be sure to check them out on their web site or on iTunes.
Since there is no option to review a band, I'll just put it here.
Raining Jane is a self described “eclectic rock-folk band”. Chaska, Mai, Mona and Becky make up this unique 4-person all-female indie band from the Los Angeles area.I saw them for the first time at St. CloudStateUniversity in Saint Cloud, Minnesota. I had listened to some of their music on iTunes and YouTube, so I had a bit of a feel for their music before see them in person. However, seeing and hearing them live was an awesome experience and made me a fan for life. It was an “intimate” setting at Ritschie Auditorium, but they treated us like they were performing in front of a sell-out crowd at Carnegie Hall. Plus, we got the benefit of being able to interact with and enjoy the humor of Mona, Chaska and Mai. Becky was the only one without a microphone, but let her music do the talking for her. All four are multi-talented and play multiple instruments with precision. You can tell that they all truly enjoy their work as their passion and love for music shows with each song. This band rocks and if you get a chance to see them in person, I highly recommend it!
