a day of cruising Glacier Bay, we ported in Juneau. Looking out our window that

We walked off the ship into downtown Juneau
and experienced the Alaskan cold for the first time. Being California girls we were not prepared for the bone
chilling cold that is Alaska.
Knowing that we had to be on our tour bus shortly for our excursion to
Mendenhall Glaicer and to go whale watching, we scooted across the street to
the Alaskan T-Shirt Company for some cheesy suvenior shopping.
browsing the nick-nacks and picking out a few silly items for friends, we made
our way back across the street to board our bus.
Whale watching in Juneau
We drove through Juneau
out to Mendenhall Glacier to see our first real live glacier. You always
hear of the blue color that a glacier has, but seeing one in person is
something else. The blue is absolutely gorgeous. Also, seeing
chunks of ice just floating in the water is a site to see. You think it's
cold, then you see the ice in the water and think "holy crap, it IS
cold." After our trip to the glacier, we headed to the docks to
board our boat for the whale watching trip.
During the whale watching trip, we followed a couple humpback whales that
provided quite a show for us. I saw my first bald eagle and there were a
bunch of sea lions all over the place. The wildlife was absolutely
amazing and being out on the boat was so beautiful.
After the excursion, we headed back to Juneau
to do the requisite shopping of all the kitchy shops. After an hour or
so, I had my fill of people and crowds, so we headed back to the ship to brave
the boarding crowds and sort through our purchases.
