My trip to Amsterdam with my friend John, including day trips to Belgium and Germany.

Day Trip to Cologne

Me by the Rhine

Myself and a couple of my friends have a thing for Germany. I myself am pretty obsessed with the country, I love it there. John and I decided to get return tickets to Cologne on the high speed ICE trains (I have a thing for fast trains as well). We couldn't go the day we wanted (the day before) because the Pope was in Cologne! We were lucky because at the time they were running a special fare promotion and it only cost €50,- which is a bargain considering it was 6 hours there and back.

Cologne is a great German city. That's one of the things I love about Germany, the fact that no two cities are the same, it's very diverse. The minute you walk out of Cologne station, the great gothic cathedral is right in front of you, very impressive. There are some great shops in Cologne. We went and had a look at the Rhine River, which is pretty huge. I'd like to go back and see it on a better day when it hadn't been raining.

This was our last day on holiday.
