Fuerteventura is like a big rock with little rocks around it.....
In June I traveled to Fuerteventura. Our hotel was at the southern end of the island called Jandia. It is a 50 min taxi ride from the airport to Jandia.
On the whole island you'll hardly find anything green. Everywhere you look there are rocks.
The weather was beautiful! The waves are huge!!!! I tried to go in with a float (yeah that didn't quite work out- haha) the island is also pretty windy.
Every Wed (not sure of the day any more) there is an African market close to Jandia. Worth going to,,, but be careful; suddenly everyone at the market is "your friend".
And on Sundays you will find the African Market in Costa Calma.
Okay; so if your into surfing you should go to Costa Calma; that’s where all the surf action is.... Also; the beach you see on the postcards is costa calma.... the other beaches are alright,,,
Close to Jandia; bout a 30min taxi ride is the Oasis Park, its worth going to see...you can get a picture taken of you and parrots on your shoulder, you can go see shows; parrot show, reptile show, etc-
Oh, Fuerteventura is apparently known for its camel rides,,,, you can do that at the Oasis park.
Finally; the southern part of Fuerteventura is really just rocks; everywhere you look; rock rock rock.... and ocean. I even lost track of days there.... which was bad.... it was like.... oh- I’m not leaving tomorrow!? so, either find a really nice hotel (i will write review about the hotel i stayed in) with entertainment; pool, and walking distance to the ocean,,,, or bring aspirin.
There are many German tourists in southern Fuerte, in the north there are more british tourists....
