A weekend get-away to the north of Holland.

Lemmer

It was a 3 hour drive. First to Antwerp and then the desolate strip of asphalt to the border. I hate this part of the highway. It's so depressing. Once we crossed the border and drove into Holland, things improved though. It was highway all the way to Lemmer.

The town is nice and cozy. You can walk along the canal, up to the lock, watch the boats, sit down on a sidewalk terrace and have pancakes. The beach is small and at this time it was desolate, but then the weather couldn't really make up its mind.

Besides these things, there isn't really much to see or do in Lemmer, but it is a nice little place to just relax and get away from things.
