"Zakopane style" - the way of life
December 29, 2007
I don't know how many times I was in Zakopane, but this is the town that I can see again and again though I always feel kind of the respect or maybe even a distance that is between locals and guests. In Zakopane I am "only" Varsovian, that don't know much about the mountains and hard highlander life. It's true, but.... heheh the main shopping street Krupówki is easy to reach for everyone and it's easy to duck into the local restaurants to eat excelent food (of course must be pierogi !). The stomac is full, but (who cares about it ;) everyone can go down to the market to buy Oscypki !!! and local cheese that is so delicious that every time leaving Zakopane I think: must come back soooon :) This chees vanishes in the mouth.
By the way, if the day is "the eating day" and the stomach is full totally better not to try a bungee jump (also availabe in Kruptówki), the folks are watchig it stanging with their upturned heads. But even being not hungry at all, it's a sin not to buy a bread soaked with thick, hot backon fat - it's "heaven in gob" (of courese, don't be naive !!! you will lose your correct weight). Well, maybe skiing on the slopes helps to survive after guzzling, but am not so sure :) I think it is not possible if you add the potato cakes to your "street" menu :D Well, personaly after one dinner in the restaurant Czarny Staw (Black Pond) I didn't feel hungry maybe by two days, heheh... it was only one dinner, no more ;)Create a free TravBuddy account or login to leave comments, meet travelers, and share experiences with the TravBuddy travel community.
