Manuel and I met on 24th June, 2008 at Terminal 2 Air Asia Airport at noon.
It was great to meet him! :o)
We first started exchanging smiles on TB(Travbuddy) the day before he went to Semporna, Mabul, and Sipadan. It was either on 15th or 16th June, I’m not sure. He wrote me a message asking if I was up for coffee on that day or on 23rd because he was going diving at Sipadan the next day. He gave me his phone number so we texted each other. Unfortunately, on that day, I was busy, and told him I’d meet him when he returns from his trip.
Yes, so we were supposed to meet down town on 23rd June, 2008 :o)
I received a phone call from him saying that his flight was delayed, and asked if I could meet him at 10:30 pm instead.
I told him that I could not make it at that time but would meet him the next day at an earlier time. I also asked him how many days he was going to stay in KK during our phone conversation because I did not know how long he was staying, and when he was going to Philippines. Guess what? He was leaving KK on 24th of June. He already bought a ticket in advance.
Luckily, I had free time at noon on 24th June. We met each other on the 2nd floor of the Air Asia Airport where there were handicraft shops, a café and KFC.
The Air Asia Airport here in KK is not that big, by the way. We headed to the café, and sat down for a drink.
We talked about the countries we’ve been to, some of our likes and dislikes, about our countries, our lives.
Then, we went in line to the check in counter on the 1st floor. I was there for a short while then excused myself to go to the washroom.
Afterwards, he had to smoke a cigarette so we both went outside, and chatted some more until about 1:55 pm. Before we went back inside the airport, I asked someone to take one snap shot with my phone. Then he walked to the departure hall for his flight to Manila (Clark) which was departing at 14:20. Yes, that was it. Sadly, it was a short meet. I’m glad we got the chance to meet though.
