But let me just share this little tidbit of information -- during the concert, vocalist & frontman Alex Kapranos surprisingly announced to the audience the hotel where the band was staying at. For obvious reasons, this is a major no-no. More surprising still was the fact that he was actually inviting everyone to come over, saying that he was a friend of the hotel manager's and that it was perfectly fine for all 6K+ of us to pop in and say hello and bring some food with us. Something was definitely up, but even Jade was clueless at this point.
The band arrived about an hour late for their own after party. Alex wasn't kidding. About 600 kids, with fastfood no less, showed up at the hotel and all four band members came downstairs to greet their fans as promised earlier.
As it turns out, earlier in the day after the presscon, the band had stepped out to check out the city state and Alex returned with some street food he had bought from a hawker. He sat around the hotel lobby (not the Oriental where the presscon was held) and tried to enjoy his snack, when all of a sudden, the hotel manager comes up to him, and in a very rude, pompous and audible manner, stops him finishing his meal. It was his humiliation which prompted him to pull the stunt at the show.
To quote Mr. Kapranos from his book, Sound Bites, regarding this very incident, "Revenge is a dish best served not cold, but fast."
Not to sound fangirlish or anything, but this guy (and the rest of the band) has earned my respect.
Alex and company, you are what rockstars should be.
