This feels so retro - Jade, Pedicab driver Jason, myself...
"The label actually alloted 6 passes to the presscon," Jade excitedly tells me over the phone. As Sony-BMG's local label manager, she had full control over who actually got the golden tickets. Kiko, the station's senior jock, would definitely get one. His main and only squeeze, Nina, would be coming along too, being a magazine writer among other things. Quark was definitely getting one - not only was he the station's president's son, but was also a good friend of everyone's, and a total riot to be with. Jason, musician and music magazine writer, was willing to cough up the airfare. The last pass was reserved for Claire, a radio veteran, former NU jock, and a dear friend of the group's who would be taking Jade and I in while in Singapore.

They say getting there is half the fun, but although we took separate flights with other friends arriving at different times, the events that would take place in the following days would be etched in our whacked little heads for a long time to come...
