Sufi-Singers at the Republic
December 2, 2008
Sufi is traditional pakistani music, about I which I first learned in India. Its quite meditative, but at the same time so emotion-filled, that it has you in tears at times. Well, maybe I was in tears, because I got homesick as hell and I understood the text, well parts of it, too.
I went with a friend, who doesn't understand the language, and even she realised how dramatic and emotional it was. It was my christmas-gift to her and I think she was really happy. Especially since she had a cassette of Sufi-Songs at home, from her youth, which was sometime in the seventies.
To my shame I must say, that I cannot remember the name of the Singer and his band... I am frantically searching for the tickets. The music was great, the location was a bit chilly.
