Holiday is in the air at last! My departure to Padang is 5 days more. I have planned where to go and stay. I have got the tickets and booked the hotel. All I have to do is start to pack. I will go with my daughters Arin (12) and Raya (5) and a friend of mine, Tita. We will visit Sikuai Island, Bukit Tinggi, Lake Maninjau, Lake Singkarak, and other beautiful places. We will attend our best friend's wedding and taste some traditional food. Hm... yum yum...

Day 4, Lake Singkarak

Lunch at Lake Singkarak

At last, we arrived at Lake Singkarak. I expected a cold temperature but it was hot and shiny. The sun shone hard even it was cloudy. We decided to have lunch first. We started to find a difficulty in finding “right” menu for our tounges and stomachs. The menu provided was Padang cuisine again. There was bakso (meatball), but Raya said that it was not yummy. Lucky us, there were fried bilih fish (Mystacoleucus padangensis). Bilih fish is endemic to the lake (that fish only live at Lake Singkarak). It was crispy and yummy.

After we finished our lunch, we rented a small ship to explore the lake. But, the time was very limited because Tita had to be in the airport before 5 PM. So, we didn’t go too far from the land. Besides that, the ship was a paddle ship. So, it went slowly, very slowly. We enjoyed the ride even the scenery was not as beautiful as Lake Maninjau (from the distance). It was bigger than Maninjau. When we were back to the land, we could see the life bilih fish.
