Despite we have been partying until late last night, we had to wake up relatively early in order to go sightseeing in KC. Mark had a schedule for the TB’s, so we wouldn’t miss the most important highlights. I opened my eyes really early " wasn’t my intention, but just turned around and fall asleep again. Around 8:30am I woke up for real. I felt much better, although my throat was killing me. Oh no! The cold was coming back for me. Time to take extra medication, haha. I tried not to be so noisy in order not to wake up Harriet. Shhhh! I took a shower and felt back to live ;) By the time I was ready, Harriet was awake. We were just laughing remembering the crazy night, haha and were almost ready, when someone knocked at the door. It was Eric, hurrying us up! Come on, boy! Please don’t talk so loud, shhhh.
Harriet, Eric, Bill & Yadi ready to leave...
We are just recovering, hehe. I just turned back for a second and next thing I saw was Eric was looking for matching armbands, haha.
a cool pic? no we were trying to hide the hang over look, hehe
We had to be down by 10 am in order to meet the rest of the gang. The 3 of us left the room and run to the elevators. Harriet noticed her leg was hurting and started limping a bit. I was hoping it wouldn’t get worse, since she was talking about dancing later. All the Westin’s people were at the lobby. We were just waiting for the guys who were staying at other hotel and of course for Mark. In the meanwhile we started to take some pics, hehe. No need to say we looked like a lot of crazy paparazzis, haha. By the way, we were wearing shades, but not just because we wanted to look cool, but also we wanted to disguise the hangover looks, haha.
Mark arrived and we were ready to start moving. Some of us were hungry, since they are breakfast people. Others had already had breakfast. And others " like me are more lunch people, haha. So we would do the fairest thing: having a brunch, haha.
Harriet, Eric & Yadi saying hi!!!
The KC tour started. We were driving in 3 cars, which were driven by: Mark, James and Sal. First of all we visited the World War I Memorial. The day was sunny and wonderful, so we had a great view of the city. Ok, 1st issue to solve: finding parking place. But no need to worry about it, Mark had already solved the problem. He gave James and Sal 2 handicaps signs, so we could park at the handicaps’ parking places. I know it’s not a nice thing, but couldn’t help finding it funny.
As our host, Mark was explaining us about the city. We were taking pics of the whole place and even asked a family to take a pic of us. They were so friendly and immediately agreed, without knowing it was 1 pic but with over 10 different cameras, OMG!!! After taking pics of the monuments and fountains, we went back to the cars in order to drive to our 2nd stop.
cute girls: Yadi, Erin, Mel & Harriet
KC is known as “The City of Fountains”. So we went to see some of the famous and beautiful fountains. We parked " but this time we didn’t use the passes. One time was enough, we are good people ;) We started walked around and taking pics, asking the innocent people for group shots. Ok, the breakfast people were getting really hungry and food became a MUST.
We decided to go to a nice café where we would meet later that day, for having something to eat. I have to say that I was amazed by the architecture of the city. It is so nice and delicate. I can’t describe it, full of fountains and beautiful buildings. In our way, we saw a nice horse and encouraged Shawn to ride it. We had enough time to take some pics. Almost at noon, we arrived to the “Classic Cup Sidewalk Café”. They didn’t have a big table for all of us, so we had to split in 2 tables. I was sit with Bill, Will, Harriet, Sal & Eric. Mmm, what to order? I wasn’t hungry and was thinking about the BBQ coming at 5pm, so Eric and I decided to share a platter of fresh and tasty fruit with delicious cheese. What were all of us drinking? Just juices and sodas, haha. We had to save our liver for later that day, haha. The air condition felt so great there, that it was hard to leave the place, haha.
the 3 super friends: Yadi, Eric & Sal
Anyway, we were ready to keep and were thinking about going back to the hotel and just chill out until it was time to go to the BBQ since we were a bit tired and wanted to relax. But Mark said there was one other place we couldn’t miss and…
a happy family, la la la
He was so right!!! It would have been a shame missing the Nelson Artkins Museum of Arts. We didn’t have enough time to enjoy the inside of the museum, although we went there and were able to see some neat pieces of art. But no regrets, just the surrounding huge park was so amazing, with more than 30 sculptures over there. Of course we couldn’t see all of them, but enjoyed the few we saw. We took really fun shots and had a blast walking around and acting like a happy family " everyone holding hands, so cute!!! TB family!!! Also we couldn’t stay long there, since the cars weren’t park 100% correctly.
this is a huge ice cream...
Ok, time to go back to the hotel. The group had to split again. Tim and Eric went to pick up the bikes for the brave guys who would take a bike tour next morning " I have to see it, hehe. Will, R.J, Harriet, Shawn, Bill and I bought some soft drinks and chilled out for a while. Then Shawn and Bill went to their hotel. By that time Eric was back and Tim was already at his hotel. Erin & Mel were already upstairs getting ready for the rest of the day. The rest of us also went upstairs in order to relax and get ready to leave later. Harriet and I were just relaxing and deciding what outfit to wear that day later, when we got a call from Eric who was saying we have lo leave asap! We didn’t know about it, but Mark had a big surprise for the TB’s and it was already starting.
OMG!!! I wish we would have known about that earlier! I called Will and let him know there was a change of plans and we needed to leave earlier. Everyone was downstairs, excepting James, Mel and Erin, who were already at the Café with Mark. The first group of us (Harriet, Shawn, Eric, Bill and I) was ready to leave. We took a cup and drove as fast as possible to the place. The big surprise was: Mark and his friend Mark were together playing for us!!! That was awesome!!!! In the café we met also Natalia, who I met during the welcoming dinner " besides James, Mark, Mel & Erin. The rest of the gang arrived some minutes later. Also new TB’s joined us: Sari and Jen!!! Both are sweet girls and Sari has been in Lima some years ago. Cool!!! After enjoying some great music and taking a lot of pics " what a surprise! The tradition of the lap picture got started and while I was getting my lap picture with Tim… Anyway, it was time to go to the official dinner.
one kiss, after another: Mel, Erin & Yadi
the coolest group shot!!!
We went to Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue to taste a real KC BBQ! Yummy, in our way to the restaurant we saw probably the most photographed fountain of KC, a little man peeing. Eric is a crazy guy and couldn’t help getting an interesting pic with the boy. There were 2 women watching that from inside a restaurant. They seemed to be scared! We arrived to the restaurant and while we were waiting for the rest of the group Shawn decided to ride the bull in the entrance. It looked cool and easy and I wanted to do the same, but nobody told me it was freaking hot!!! I almost burned my hands, but got it! Mark wasn’t kidding when he told us we were going to the best BBQ Place.
It looked so good and you could smell the tasty food. Everybody was happy about the idea of having a delicious meat and I was a bit afraid since I’m not a big meat lover, mmm. But no problems, Natalia is a vegetarian and Natalia is not a BBQ lover, cool! You can find every kind of people at TB! All of us, meat lovers, vegetarians, 50% vegetarians enjoyed a delicious meal! No need to say we didn’t have just what we ordered. We tasted from everyone’s dish, so we ended tasting almost everything on the huge menu, hehe. In our way out, Sal asked me if we could get a pic. Of course! Next thing I remember, he was carrying me and Will was taking my sandals away, so much fun!!! It’s good to be the tiniest ;)
Sal had me in his arms...
Ok, now was party time, yeah!!! In our way we stopped at a nice fountain and got an incredible group shot.
There were so many flashes, I almost felt famous, hehe. Before going to party we stopped in a cool bar. Hey! There was a table just for TB. How cool!!! Andy, another TB, was already there waiting for us. YAY!!! We were hanging out when James announced a ceremony was coming. I imagine, the crowning and knighting ceremony is coming. I was expecting to see Mel’s surprised face, when he called me. What? I was getting a cute pink shirt signed by all the TB’s who attended to the Meet Up. Why? Because I was the one who came from furthest away! Thank you!!!! Then the awaited ceremony started. First of all, Mel was crowned as the Queen " with the tiara Will and I got the day before and then she knighted: Sir James, Sir Sal, Sir Will and Sir R.J. Cool! I brought with me another cell’s sock for my room mate " cool! Now there were 3 matching cells ;) And also there were some small presents from Peru to the girls.
with my cute pink shirt, signed by everyone :)
Yes, girls’ power! We were hanging out there and making fun when we decided it was time to go to dance. Everyone started to leave in groups and when I was crossing the door I met Kirk. He was just arriving with a friend and would stay there for a while, after that he would join us wherever we decided to go. Nice!!!
my favorite sandwich: the friendship sandwich!!!
Eric and I realized all the cars were full or have already left, so we should take a cab. Ok, not a big deal. In the car, I started looking for my eyes drops in my purse and I couldn’t find them. So, when we were driving near the hotel, I asked if we could stop there, so I could get my drops. My eyes were so dry… As soon as we arrived to the hotel I went upstairs and got the miracle drops. We got a call, the guys were at the Irish Pub, but were getting ready to leave. So we invited them to join us at the bar of the hotel, haha.
Ok, ready to go. Before leaving the hotel we thought it might be a good idea giving Shawn a call and ask him how everything was going. We knew they were going to the same pub. He told us they were still doing a long line. Ok, we hung up, turned back and saw an empty bar just waiting for us, haha. Ok, just have 1 drink and meet the rest of the gang. And as we say in Peru: “there is no 1st one without a 2nd one” haha. We were informed the pub was packed and we just let them know we were in a nice place, close to home, drinking, chilling out and most important without long lines, haha. There were a wedding and a couple of conventions in the hotel. People thought we were part of a convention, since they noticed we were wearing tags with our names, haha.
the only pic I got from the waterfall inside the hotel. It's a cute shot!
Well, sort of, and Eric introduced me as the Peruvian one, haha. One of the guys has been in Peru with his wife one year ago, so we started talking about Peru. It was so fun. Suddenly, he called his son and introduced me to him. Ok, ok… Eric, help me!!! Another guy came to the bar, he just told us he just crashed to a wedding upstairs. Mmm. Eric and I looked to each other and immediately knew what to do, haha. How could we refuse free drinking and partying?
shhh, don't tell anyone where I'm going, shhh
They arrived and saw 2 crazy people wearing PJ’s while everyone else was dressed up, ooops! The bar would close soon, so we ordered our drinks in plastic cups, so we could take them to the lobby. The ones who were at the lobby were: Eric, Sal, R.J., James, Erin, Will, Mark, Yadi and Marcus " a guy we met at the bar, haha. We were just chatting and remembering all the fun we had the past days. Time to give my host Mark the last hug from this time. And suddenly and unexpectedly … an incident… I think somebody took a pic, OMG!!! Ok, the sad part of the story was coming closer. It was time to start saying good bye, since almost everybody was leaving the next day early. Just Sal, Eric and I would stay longer, but this is another story…
good bye Will!!!!
