A long 1st day - The Pre Meet Up - yeah!!! :D
James had to go back to the airport and pick up some of the members of the LV Gang. I was supposed to drive with him, but he was picking up 3 people with 3 bags + Will was already there and I didn’t’ want to leave him alone, besides the fact we were still missing doing some shopping; anyway at the end I stayed with Will at the hotel. Ok, I let you know what we had to buy: a tiara for the queen!!! Will really needed me by his side for this mission. Otherwise it should have seen too rare. Can you imagine a big and strong man looking for a tiara in a kid’s store, haha. We were lucky that there was a mall next to the hotel.
We started with our duty and not even 15min later, we were ready. Great job!
While I was doing some shopping with Will, I got a phone call from Eric! He was coming closer to the hotel and we agreed to meet at the lobby.
Will and I went to the lobby and took a sit. We were just chatting when I saw a guy approaching to us. He looks familiar to me… Was he??? Yes, he was Eric!!! After looking to each other we hugged as if we were friends from a long time ago. Eric and I had been in touch since some time ago, so I felt him as an old friend and had to bring him something from
Everyone was staying at the 8th floor. James with Eric,
Everything was solved and we drove to the “Ranglan Road Irish Pub”, where we would meet the rest of the TB’s.
Mark was waiting for us there. Also Tim was there. His hotel was just walking distance from the Power & Light District. Our group was getting bigger, hehe. It was so easy to notice we weren’t a regular group, since our table was full of cameras, haha. Some of us were hungry, for example Will and R.J. haha. Eric & I weren’t so hungry, so we just shared a dish. Well, not all were hungry, but definitely everyone was ready to start toasting, haha. I didn’t know what to order and ended having a Martini like Eric. James really needed a drink, so 1st thing to order was a GG with cranberry. I didn’t need to say it didn’t last for long haha. The waiter came with the food and offered to give us some advises about where to go and what to do, plus he decided to be the photographer of the group. How nice!!!! During the lunch we were talking about our former funny experiences.
I was the only one who didn’t tell mine. I owe that and will do it in
When our hunger and thirst were gone, we left the Irish Pub and decided to walk around until it was time to go to the club. We went to the “Sprint Center College Basketball Experience”. At the beginning I wasn’t sure about going inside, but finally we all agreed to do it and it was worth. We had a great time and lots of fun there. Eric, James, Mel, Sal and R.J. were playing basketball. They were jumping all around, haha.
Mel got hit, but fortunately it wasn’t bad. We took some pics as basketball players and even compared our feet with the ones of the players. Mine was so small…
A couple of hours later, we were ready to move, but it was still early for the club. So we ended going back to the Irish Pub, but not inside. We just stayed outside chilling out and having some beer. Shawn was there and he joined the group. It was so great meeting him after some months. When he was in
Ok, now it was time to go to the “Howl of the Moon”.
We were looking for some dancing, haha. Another TB just showed: Bill!!! He made it!!! I was so glad when I saw him, that I couldn’t stop giving him a big hug :) While we were there, Harriet arrived and joined the group. My roomy was there, yeah!!! The party started. There were some flash incidents you can read in other blogs and some dancing at the stage. We all started dancing, even Shawn who told me he wouldn’t do it. Latin Power! Haha. FYI: James and Mel kept on with the shots. You are strong, guys! I didn’t remember how, but I ended flying and in the middle of a sandwich haha. We were having so much fun, singing and taking so many pics. Mmm, the place was great, but Eric and I decided to get our stamps and investigate the other places nearby.
There was a band playing outside, we even got pins and there were other clubs, but they were packed. We got back to the “Howl of the moon” and people were getting ready to move to another place.
Before going to other club, it was time for dinner. We went to “Vinino Bistro” a nice Italian place. We got something to eat in order to get energies for keeping party. Unfortunately 2 of us needed to go back and take a nap. Will didn’t drink any alcoholic beverage during the day, so he became the driver. Thanks, Will!!!! After the dinner and having some water, we were ready to go. Mmm, we reminded the waiter recommended us to go back to the Irish Pub later that night, ‘cause there would be some fun music, and dance. We ended at the same table we were before, haha.
The place was packed and loud. We enjoyed a dance show, R.J. was one of the performers, haha. Kept on drinking and having fun. Mmm, which would be the next stop? Eric reminded he had some drinks at the trunk of his jeep and we were invited to an after party at the hotel, cool!!
Eric and I ended walking to the hotel. It wasn’t so far, but walking wearing sandals with high heels made it longer. Finally we arrived to the hotel. Harriet and I went to our room and got changed. We decided to wear our PJ’s. By the time we went to Eric’s room, people were starting the party.

But don't you think this is a sort of museum, no way! Exercise is guaranteed here. Besides reading and hearing about the history of men’s collegiate basketball, you will be able to try some shots and play in different courts. Also you can compare the size of your feet with the feet of the NBA players. I visited this place with other TB during a Meet Up and at the beginning we weren't sure about going inside or not. I'm so glad we decided to do it. We had a blast there, the US$10 were worth.
It's the perfect place for sharing some fun time with friends and family. Not only the children will love it, but also the grown ups will become children again. Just be sure, to wear comfy clothes and snickers ;)

I went there during the TB Meet Up in KC. We were a large group of people, so it didn’t surprise me if the food didn’t come quickly. The place was packed, which is always a good sign.
They have a nice wine list and the food is mostly Mediterranean. I can’t say much about the food since I just had a Bruschetta, which was very tasty by the way. But some friends got calzones and pizzas, which looked pretty good. The atmosphere is really lovely. I liked a lot the art on the walls and also their lights. They were hanging in antique wooden frames. The high ceilings gave the place a unique environment. Classy, but at same time cozy. But the art can not only be seen, there were also musicians who played very nice and made things better.
I would say, this is a good place to hang out. It was a bit hard to talk over the music (but that happens everywhere) and drinks weren’t cheap; but I would go back again. And after dinner, you can explore the Power & Light District.
Regarding the food I can say that the menu has emphasis on the true Irish cuisine. Eric & I shared their famous “Shepherd’s pie”, which was really tasty. Other friends ordered different dishes and all of them looked delicious. Of course, it’s an Irish Pub, so the drink offer is huge. The service was good, they managed to serve to all of us almost at same time and were patient since we didn’t decide fast what we wanted to order. Our waiter, Marcus, was really friendly. He offered to take group shots with all the cameras we had, while he was giving us advice about what to do later that day. The dining has a great glass and woodwork. Every detail there was impressive.
In the middle of the afternoon we were just hanging out in the patio. It’s nice sit in the big live entertainment area and next to a bar, really calm and perfect to talk with your friends.
As our waiter told us, there was an Irish dancer at night. She did a great performance. There was a stage set up in the main room, where they played live music.
The vibe of this place is cool. The environment is friendly and happy. As most of the Irish Pub I have visited, it’s a place where it’s impossible not having fun, especially if you are with your friends.
The prices are on par with the other concepts in the P&L District. They have awesome bucket drinks and happy hours, also they have a free Mexican Food bar. If you want to go out and come back, be sure to get your hand stamped. So you will be able to do it without any problem after getting down the P&L district.
The atmosphere is really energetic and the vibe is so cool and relaxed, definitely a MUST! Therefore the place is always crowded, be sure to arrive early if you want to avoid long lines, especially at the weekends.
The hotel is centrally located in downtown, with a good swimming, besides an amazing view of the city. It is large and easy to get lost in, but it has also a comfy atmosphere. Since the minute you go inside, you see it’s an elegant one. Most of the people are there because of business, but it doesn’t mean you won’t feel comfortable if you are just there for vacations. They have a gorgeous terraced garden inside, with a waterfall included!
Ok, let’s go with the rooms. I had a very clean room with 2 double beds. The room had a modern/contemporary style. There was a writing desk and a sliding glass door with a very small balcony. The bathroom was big and I had plenty of counter space – always important for a girl. I had a great view from the hotel’s pool. I loved the beds and white bedding, they were comfy and soft. There was In-room coffee and tea service available.
The staff is welcoming and helpful, really friendly. Because we were a large group, they took really good care of us and tried to help as much as possible, becoming also group photographers, hehe.
Other thing you have to know about the hotel is that it’s connected to a mall, which gives you a lot of choices for eating, and shopping. This fact is really convenient, especially if you need to buy something at last minute, like we did. One thing you can miss there is going to the restaurant at the 18th floor, which is really delicious. I highly recommend the Sunday Brunch.
Definitely, I’d stay here if I’m in Kansas City again!
