and I did it! KC here I am... :)
After a not so long flight I arrived to KC, yeah!!! I was
so excited. I couldn’t believe, this was happening. OMG!!! I had to say I was
able to take a short nap in the plane, so I wasn’t too tired. KC’s airport wasn’t
big, so it wouldn’t be a problem meeting my host: James. He was supposed to
pick me up and although we haven’t met in person before I could recognize him
easily while he was talking on the phone, maybe with another TB, haha. The poor
guy had a busy weekend. I think he was a bit surprised when he saw my bag, mmm.
It was a big one. I was the smallest TB, buy hey! I had the biggest bag, haha.
Anyway, after the hugs and greetings we finally started
our way to the hotel.
I was feeling ok, but definitely needed a shower if I
wanted to be reloaded. As soon as I took a shower and wore a comfy dress,
everything turned to be greater, hehe. What to do now? Well, before the Meet Up
I wanted to do some shopping, because I knew I wouldn’t have time to do it
later. I always have to buy something for Gunther ;) James and I had lunch at
the hotel, something light and then he drove me to do some shopping. First of all I needed to get something for the cold. I started to feel a sore throat and wanted to take something just in case. James was so
nice, he even went with me to
We were back at the hotel around 5pm and weren’t sure what
to do at the evening, mmm.
The only thing I was 100% sure was that I needed to
take a nap if I wanted to be 100% ok. So, I did it. But before going to bed, I
couldn’t help it and had to check TB, haha. By the time I was awake, James has
already talked to some friends in order to know what was going on in the city
on a Wed night. Mmm, nothing much was happening. What to do? Better, just stay
at the hotel, drink some wine and take it easy. James brought some wine and we
fixed a platter with cheese and crackers, haha. Nothing fancy, just something
nice to get with the cheese. It was just the 1st day and I wanted to
keep as much energy as possible for the looooong weekend coming. It was a good
idea staying there and enjoy a nice conversation with him. I wanted to see a
host in action, since I will be the one in
It's located just 20min drive from downtown Kansas City. Here are some things I liked from it:
-it's not a big airport, so it's very simple to go through security, to claim your baggage and find your gate.
-I wasn't here long to check the facilities, but could see some restaurants and shops. They have free wi-fi - which I used.
-there are a lot of parking places and they are very close to the exits
-I didn't use it, but there are stands from the Metro Bus, located outside the terminals.
-they have 3 terminals and a red shuttle bus provide transportation between them.
Love the simplicity!

If you are a sports fan, the location is the best, just 3 blocks away from Truman Sports Complex, Arrowhead Stadium and Kauffman Stadium. But if you are looking for some fun in downtown, you might choose another hotel...
I have heard this hotel has been recently renovated. I found it very good. They are still working in a new Starbucks hehe. The rooms are comfy and clean. The bed was very good too.
There is a nice business center in the ground floor, with high speed Internet Access and Printers. They have a nice gym and 2 pools, one indoors and other outdoors.
The restaurant serves a delicious food and the bar of the hotel has a good selection of drinks.
The rooms has almost everything. What they are missing is a fridge in the rooms. We had to "invent" one, haha. All the rest was perfect!
I would recommend staying here unless you want to be walking distance for downtown... anyway it's a great place to relax.
