with David!!! another traveler yeah!!
Around 5pm I arrived to Miami. I have to say that the Airport
surprised me. I was expecting a hard time there, but it was pretty easy. I did
customs without any problems. Just the customs agent couldn’t understand why I
was going to KC. He even asked me: Why KC!?!?!? Why don’t you stay and relax
here? Haha, well, it would have taken a long time explaining what a TB Meet Up
is, so in order to keep it simple: I’m going to meet friends! And that’s what
we are now: Friends :)
A couple of weeks before leaving Lima,
I contacted 2 good friends who live in Miami
in order to know if they would be available to meet during my almost 12hrs
layover.
tasty Margarita :P
And luckily they were. They are: David – one of my best school’s
friends brother - & Washi – my ex boyfriend’s uncle. As soon as I was ready
with customs and luggage I called David who was just 20min from the airport. This
time was perfect to get rid of the warm clothes and look for something lighter.
When I contacted David and let him know I was going to Miami, he was so nice and friendly. Immediately
he offered to pick me up from the airport and take care of me. It surprised me
a lot, since in Lima
we weren’t that close and I haven’t seen him almost in 1 year. Last time was in
Ft. Lauderdale at his sis’ wedding after not
seeing him since high school. But we had a blast there, so I guess he remembers
the fun from the latins at the wedding, haha.
Anyway, he picked me up and we went to the Friday’s to
have something to drink.
The 3 of us: Washi, Yadi & David
I got a Strawberry Margarita and he got a Long Island
Tea. So, we started talking about our lives and what was going on with us. We
both realized we have something in common: love to travel! He reminded me as
the sweet little girl from high school and couldn’t imagine I like backpacking
and was in my way to meet TB’s, haha. Surprise! Because of his job he travels
all the time and might be going to Lima
in 1 month. We have already scheduled a gastronomic tour, besides the fun one,
haha. Well, I have some experience with the tours, specially the fun ones in Lima :) We ordered
something to eat and kept on discussing about the possibility of doing some
hiking in Peru.
By the way, the Margaritas and Long Island Teas kept on coming, haha. It was a
really interesting conversation and I almost didn’t notice the time. It was
almost 11 when I saw my watch and I had to call Washi.
with Washi almost time to go...
Washi was in his way to the airport and decided to join us
at the Friday’s yeah!!!! We stayed there
until the waitresses started to give to us funny looks, mmm. Maybe is time to
leave the place, oooops! David had to leave, but was concerned about where I’d
spend the night. Personally I don’t have any problem if I don’t sleep, but he
was worried about it. Washi told him not to worry about it. I became Washi’s responsibility.
I got another babysitter, hehe. I thanked David for everything and wait for him
in Lima soon.
Washi asked me if I really wanted to sleep or we could
just hang out until it was time to go back to the airport. There were just 4
hours to kill. Mmm, there would be time to sleep at the plane, so let’s hang
out, haha. We took things easy and went for some coffee. Washi was telling me
about the girl he’s in love and his future plans, etc. He wants to go to Peru late July,
maybe he and David would go at same time. That will be amazing!!! We were just
chatting like 2 old friends and didn’t realize the time was almost gone. When I
finally looked my watch. It was 3:30 am! Wow! Time to drive to the airport. I’m so thankful, he decided to spend the night
without sleeping although he had to work next day. I owe you a big one, big guy!!!
Ok, I had already did the check in online and just dropped
my bags. KC was coming closer…
