My first day in KC, :)
This was my 1st 24hrs day in KC. I didn’t have
plans for the day, except meeting Mark for dinner. So, what to do? James
decided to take care of me and joined me for the whole day, thanks!!!! It was a
sunny day, and it was pointless doing sightseeing since the whole group would
do it together on Saturday. So, better try something different, hehe. He had a
plan. Before going to our final destination we made a quick stop in front of
the Baseball and NFL Football stadiums. They were close to the hotel, which is
usually packed with players when there are games there. We took some pics and
moved to our second destination.
It was World’s of Fun!!! And how can’t you have fun
there??? It was a Theme Park.
First of all I have to say, that James LOVES
rollercoasters. I have to be honest. I like them, but not as much as he does. OMG!!!
We started with the Boomerang. Well, it was my 1st time going
backwards. Oh!!! It was great, but I was shacking after that haha. Anyway, he
wanted to try every rollercoaster at the park. Oh! Oh! We started walking and
ended at the highest one: The Mamba. I started had 2nd thoughts
about doing it, but at the end I did it! Ok, that was enough. I had a sore
throat, but after screaming so loud, it was already gone. I really needed to
take things slower, I still couldn’t feel my arms, haha.
Ok, time to walk around and get something to drink or eat.
James got a huge ice cream and at the beginning I didn’t want to get one, but
he convinced me. I ended having a small one, but with a flavor I haven’t tasted
ever: Birthday Cake! It was yummy and looked so colorful and nice.
I haven’t
ever heard about that flavor, Beer and Pina Colada were the strangest I saw in
We went to a couple of other attractions. These were more
related to water. I was 85% wet after the last one, but it wasn’t too bad,
since the day was really hot. James has been in this park before, but there was
a new rollercoaster: “The Patriot”. It was too much for me. I joined James but
just until the entrance. Sorry, I couldn’t do it. It was too much and I wanted
to be perfect for our meeting with Mark that day later. James took a ride and
enjoyed a lot!!!! I’m glad he did it! James grabbed something to eat and by the
time he was ready and we started to walk again it started raining, so it was
time to leave.
We arrived early to the park and were able to enjoy it almost as
the owners of the place, haha. We arrived and left on perfect time!
We went back to the hotel. I took a quick shower and get
ready to meet Mark in the city. He organized a welcoming dinner for me, isn’t
he sweet??? He asked me before what kind of food I wanted to taste and arranged
everything. He also contacted other TB’s who live in the city, so we all could
meet. James and I arrived to the place early. It wasn’t even 4:30 and we were
supposed to meet at 5:30, mmm, what to do now? I told James I saw a bar next
door, haha. So, we just moved next door, haha. While we were sitting there
waiting for Mark, I saw some cops standing in the corner. Oh my tradition!!!
Wherever I go, I have to get a pic either with cops or firefighters, hehe.
James
approached them and told them he has a Peruvian friend, blah blah blah. The
cops were more than fine with the idea of getting the pic, haha. I got it! Yeah!
James & I were having our Grey Goose when Mark came
in. I recognized him immediately and was trying to stand up asap to give him a
huge hug!!!! We were so happy to meet to each other. He even started talking in
Spanish, cool!!!! I had some presents for him and James, the hosts, which I wanted
to give before meeting the rest of the people. The current hosts and future one
were reunited :) After some chatting, we moved next door to meet the other TB’s.
We went to the Jerusalem Café for some Mediterranean food.
Our table was ready and waiting for us. Natalia and Kirk joined us. They are
also TB’s from KC. I was so glad about this welcoming pre pre meet up. It was
so cool. These guys are the best and made me feel even more comfortable. We
started to talk and chat, while we were enjoying a delicious meal. Of course no
alcohol was allowed in the restaurant, but no problem. We’d take care of that
later, haha.
Ok, we went to the oldest building of the city which was
just across the street and was… a Bar, haha, what a surprise, haha!!! We
ordered some beers for our 1st KC toast and were just chilling out
when a lady approached to us wondering what kind of group we are, haha. It was
clear we were just meeting, you know cameras over the table, lot of flashes,
haha. She was part of the squirrel table and told us the story.
Ok, we had to
get pictures with the lady. Natalia and Kirk had to go. She had to meet a
friend and work the next day. Kirk had also plans. They wouldn’t join us for
the Pre Meet Up, but they would be at the Meet Up on Saturday, yeah!!!!
Mark, James and I drove a bit around the city. Mark was
showing me the places we would visit during the next days. Ok, time to go back
to the hotel and relax. A long day weekend was coming and I wanted to be more
than ready. The next day I have to check in another hotel with the rest of the
gang and will be James’ copilot for some rides to the airport.
Time to close my eyes, shhhhhhhhhhhh

Besides the unique local, the environment is really cool and laid back. It's a great place to hang out with your friends and enjoy the KC's way of having fun. They have been serving for more than 60 years and still have some traditions like the squirrel table - for the ladies playing poker.
The place is open daily and I think is the best one to start drinking with your friends before going party. The staff is really friendly and makes you feel at home!

Plus, they offer a daily Happy Hour special. They don't offer any cocktail that needs a blender to fix, but have an extensive martini & cocktail menu, as well as wines from around the world.
Although I was there just for a while I can say that the atmosphere was pretty cool and servers were very nice and friendly.
They serve the traditional hummus and baba ghanouj, as well as a large selection of entrees and sandwiches that are meat-free. But there are gyros platter or other meat kabobs, if you are looking for some meat. Personally, I tried the falafel and it was delicious!!! It doesn’t matter what dish you choose, all of them seem to be fresh and home made. The food is really tasty, but be sure to save some space for the delicious baklava.
Regarding the environment, this is pretty laid down and comfy. The service is nice and you can enjoy a nice conversation there. Besides it’s located in a great area, just walking distance from the middle of the action, haha!
Actually, it was named after Jules Verne's book "Around the World in 80 Days" and is divided into 5 major sections (Scandinavia, Africa, Europa, the Orient, and Americana). Rides, attractions, shops, shows, and restaurants are named according to each area theme. Well, there's also an area for children, called "Camp Snoopy".
Among all the attractions, the Roller coasters might be the most visited. If you love them, you have to visit this park. The most popular are:
* Timber Wolf: a classic wooden one.
* Mamba: it's a huge one. The highest of the park.
* Boomerang: a shuttle roller coaster. Drives backwards.
* Spinning Dragons: dragon-themed spinning one.
* Patriot: an inverted roller coaster for the brave ones.
* Fury of the Nile: a river rafting ride.
If you like roller coasters and are nearby, I definitely recommend you visit this park. All the family can enjoy here!
