This is my blog about the 4 day trip to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the surrounding area. Overall it was a very good trip.

Day 2 of the Garmisch trip

We left Mons Belgium the 20th of June and stayed the night in a hotel about half way to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, because that is a lot of traveling with kids.  We arrived early afternoon on the 21st.  The only thing we did the first day is check into our cabin and buy food for the week.

I had several things planned but what I was most excited about was the cable car ride up the Zugspitze.  So the very first thing we did was that.  We bought 2 cable car ride package, the Zugspitze and the Alpspitze (that was on day 3).  The cable car ride and at the top of the Zugspitze was everything I had hoped for and more.  At 2,962 meters (9,718 ft), it was breathtaking.  Next we took a drive to visit the castles in the area, Neuschwanstein, Hohenschwangau, and the Linderhof.  The Linderhof was the only one we went into because we were short on time.  Finally we went to the Partnachklamm.  This was a pleasant surprise.  It was a nice walk through this incredible gorge.  That was the end of day 2.
