Greek Earthquake!!!!

I'm not on the top but I had to pose so I could put the timer on.

Here goes the story of all stories…

I am okay as the earthquake was only 6.4 on the Richter scale. The center point was in Rhodes but I sure felt it here. I was lying in bed awake and contemplating getting up and going for my hike over to the “famous” rock. Then the bed started to shake, and I thought that is strange as my bed is made of bricks ( and Yiannis is no where in sight). I knew right away what it was (or so I thought I did) and so jumped out of bed and got dressed.  I really didn’t relish the thought of going down the side of the cliff naked. Put on my running/hiking clothes and headed outside. There was absolutely no action at my hotel, so I thought maybe I was being ridiculous.

This is the site I went to check the quake out.  This travel blog just gets better and better. I must admit I am very nervous now as one earthquake usually leads to another. After shocks, for sure, are a concern. Don’t know if I will be able to sleep tonight. Not that not sleeping is going to   make a difference, as there is nothing I can do. Apparently where I am staying is the worst place to be if a quake hits Santorini. That is such a welcoming thought.

As I am driving around the island I can't stop being amazed at the different landscapes.

Anyway, on a more pleasant note, I had a great day today. I traded my quad in for a bigger and newer one. I also got it for considerably cheaper by shopping around. Turns out this guy just opened his shop two weeks ago and so the bike and helmets are brand new. Headed out of Fira and picked up Charlene for our wine tour. We headed up to the winery to find out that we were the only ones on the tour. Had a very interesting tour and just had to sample some of the wares.

We then drove across the island to Kamari beach. Charlie wanted to suntan for the afternoon. I am still opting out of exposing this very sore body to the sun. Tomorrow we are going to the Red beach. The sand is supposed to be all red. The next day I am heading to the volcano and hot springs. I am constantly slathering 30+ sunscreen on every hour just to make sure.

This evening, Charlie and I are heading to Fira for dinner. Fira is the capital of Santorini and is known for its night life. We shall see! Not that I am into bars and staying out late, but just incase I end up in the sea tomorrow; I better enjoy myself while I can.
