Look at the size of the shrimp!

Sorry about no video. It takes over an hour to upload to YouTube and I feel terrible hogging the internet in the lobby. You will just have to wait until I get internet in my room. It may never happen as I am trying to stay in places that are more obscure. So no videos for now. They also take up an enormous amount of space on my card.

Booked my trip to Rhodes. I am flying there. Two reasons. One the ferry doesn't leave the day I want to go. It meant either missing my scuba trip or staying here until the 12th. That is reason one. The other reason the ferry takes 10 hours. Yuck! So I am flying and it takes one hour. The only draw back is I have to take public transit to the airport way on the other side of Crete.

Walking up to the Fortress.
That should be really cute with my big suitcase and no air-conditioning. I booked into a hotel in Ialisos. Apparently it a very nice town. We shall see.

I am heading off to my quad safari to the mountains this evening. We leave at four and I will be back at 10. I am looking forward to it because it reminds me of all the memories at Mum and Dad's with their "zoom zoom" Who on earth ever thought of that name?

I was also able to book my scuba for tomorrow and I leave at 8:30 in the morning and return in the evening. We have to go to the south of the Island again and it is an hour drive. Going through the mountains in Crete is a real treat. I am a poet and I didn't even know it.

I finally made it to the Fortress. It is so sad to see the struggles that the Greeks have had in maintaining control of their country.

The guards' house.
I honestly think every other European country and Middle Eastern countries thought they had a right to over throw the Greeks. I am sure the Greeks armies were limited and therefore the battles were short and fierce. Attached are pictures of the fortress and the view from around it. From the very top when you are looking at the beach in the background my hotel is about half way. It looks like a long walk but it isn't too bad. I just take my water bottle and off I go. I am going through all my shoes as my feet are getting rubbed raw with perspiration and rubbing. Where is Yiannis to give me a foot massage?

My favourite part of the town is the old town. There are so many streets like the ones I took pictures of. I get so turned around but love going looking so I don't mind. I have yet to see one street twice. The prices are ridiculously high. As I was walking back I see a sign on the beach that says "Two chairs and 1 umbrella for 9 Euros" Can you believe that is what you have to pay? You can't sit out there without  an umbrella and the sand is way too hot to stay on. No wonder so many people spend time at the pool. I wonder if it is going to be like that throughout Greece? I may just have to keep stealing and play dumb.

Must run and get ready for quadding.
