Arriving in Karjaa/Karis
August 16, 2006
I was on time on that train... and was forced to ask a girl sitting in front of me: what did have to do with the ticket (u know in some countries u have to validate it and in some not, sometimes the validating machine is at the platform and sometimes at the station and i was sitting inside a moving train already hahaha - but fortunately in Finnland they have those machines in the trains -uff, lucky me again haahha). So, as i started the conversation i was continueing it - in order the travel would pass faster and were not that borring;) Unfortunately after about 30 she had to get off and the rest of 1-hour-journey i was just looking aout of the window - searching for wild deer - and i saw them! TWICE ahahha!
As i finnaly arrived i was supposed to meet Chris - who's had to bring me home - the problem was - we've never seen each other, but obviously Ola (my polish friend who's living in Finnland) has shown him my pic so that he could recognise me getting off the train.
So, as i got off, i was looking for a person, who's looking for a unknown person as well hahaha - and we couldn't miss us, hahha two lost guys standing at the platform looking for some strangers hahaha every one has already gone home and the train left. It was doubtless who is who at this empty station;)
We got home and finnaly after some 5 years or so i met Ola again (we chatted often of course but now was it in real life)!
In meantime she got a child and some things has changed;)
I was planning to stay at Ola and Chris for 1 week. But since they worked sometimes (hahaha sometimes sounds not bad huh?) i had to make my own day-planes. Who knows me here even just a little bit also knows - that i don't need much to have fun, give me just one of those 3 things (1. metro 2.nature 3.bike) and i will be happy: in large cities i want my metro/sybway which i could discover, in countryside ... show me just a mountain and i will climb on it, and where there is no metros and no mountains or lakes/seas - i will be comfortable with just a bike.
As u can see on my pics there is absolute nothing in Karjaa/Karis (double name for this town, one is in finish another one in swedish - the two official languages here) So i had to take a bike from Chris and off i go!
The next day we were in town for eating, and this was something that surprised me a lot: in every kind of locals, like pizzerias, bars or fast foods (which i never visit when i don't have to btw.) u don't get a beer served!!!!! I was told it's because of the alcohol poblem here in northern countries (u know, long nights, less sun light, cold, snow 'all the time' ;) hahaha). But it sucks a bit, noh? U get in take ur pizza or what ever and u just can't take a beer, they don't sell it! And coke or sprite is a crap dring as well, so i had to take just a water:/ like an animal!!! I could go to the river and drink some much more tasty water (RJ: remember? - rain water hahahaha, there is another possibility: river water! ;)
But it's ok. I don't complain any more hahaha
