I saw the great wall I really enjoyed all of the history that you could see and observe while here. I walked a good section of the wall that was at least 3 miles long which isn’t that long although it is up step uneven in size and length sized steps. When touring the wall I really wanted to get away from all the people and get alone to center myself and just let my imagination run wild thinking about all that had happened on this wall or who had walked where I had been walking. I got to do this because the people I was with don’t like to go out and explore really (LAME) except for Ricardo (who couldn’t come as he was buying a new camera). So I went and explored the rest of the wall myself which was better in the long run. I also liked the defense wholes made in the wall they had notches so intricately placed so that arrows could be shot through with precision.

There were these fortifications every so often that I believe were used to signal the others if an attack was taking place. The small fortifications were small for me and I am not that tall.
I walked the 3 miles and had to stop right at where the wall fell into disrepair; unfortunately this is what I wanted to see the wall that wasn’t kept up. I wanted to see the wall and how it was holding up to the elements, but the way was totally closed off with bricks you couldn’t even see the ruins. I guess that’s the Chinese Gov. for you.

Then after I turned around and made my way back (which was a lot longer and harder than I thought it was going to be.

I met some guys my age that go to school at ASU. We talked about our internships and school and what we had been doing it made the time and hurt pass by quicker than at first before I caught up with them. I love talking to new people because a new person introduces you to a whole new view on life or a perception of reality! I took the ski lift back down that you take to get to the top and met up with my people and we left to go to shop.

Our taxi driver took us by 2 Olympics Buildings and some of the housing that the athletes, officials and extra will live in. I saw the Swimming pool where all the swimming will be held and also the basket ball arena I believe! (See pictures)

We ate at Subway although it was great to have some American food it was expensive (49 Yuan)L.

I usually don’t like to hit up these kinds of touristy type shopping malls but, if you want any type of counterfeit high fashion accessories, Skiing Jackets, “exotic” silks, custom made suits, A.D.D. toys or Mao Zedong propaganda Silk Street Mall is your heaven but, soon to be hell! This place is great for bargaining, but will soon become a hellish nightmare once you plunge into a massive debt spiral of burning frivolous items and just before you crash and die from debt or of your arms detach due to over weight bags you might be lucky enough to find the exit to retire for the night!

This place doesn’t need to covers up the windows like casinos because they are already covered with items for sales not allowing any light to hit the products but the bluish tinted florescent lights.

I made deals and bargained in Chinese all day I thought to my self that I have learned a lot because I could make small talk and bargain with the employees. I bought 1 quicksilver shirt and a Volcom shirt, 2008 Olympics shirt, China Football Jersey, Versace Clutch Purse, Nike “90” soccer shoes, 1 black skinny tie, 2 Mao Zedong buttons and my favorite Purchase a custom made three piece suit for yours truly.

The jacket is black (same as pants) and has a pinkish purple inside and a black vest.  It’s a slim fit with style modeled after the movie Reservoir Dogs and the Justin Timberlake 3 piece (from: Future Sex/Love Sounds). I love it they totally worked with me and it only cost 900 Yuan and I bargained it from 1,800 Yuan! I highly recommend for any traveler!

Basically I got tired of every one raping my wallet continuously so I convinced my people to leave after a total of I think 5 hours of shopping. I could have been done in 2-3. We ate then bed.
