Kananaskis 100 Mile Relay Race

Kananaskis Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

The K100 relay race is a major fundraiser for Hostelling International Canada Pacific Mountain Region. The 100 mile course begins in the village of Longview in southwestern Alberta. The course traverses the Highwood Pass on the highest paved highway in Canada and takes you into the Kananaskis valley. It is one of the most beautiful and challenging relay races you can run. The teams are made up of 10 runners although you can do it with less.

Kananaskis 100 Mile Relay Race

There are ten legs to the race rated in difficulty from a 2 to 10 out of ten. The race is held the third weekend in June and teams are selected on a draw basis. The weather we've experienced over the years has been driving snow to blistering heat.  I have experienced both of these in a single 10 kilometer span running down from the Highwood Pass.
