Over the river and through the woods...

We're riding the train from Bordeaux into Paris now. For some reason I've found that listening to Rise Against puts me into the reality that right now I really am riding through the French countryside. These are the kinds of places pictures can't do justice for. Biarritz was like a living postcard. From the crepes to the cafe to the beaches and the lighthouse. Topless tanning was also really cool, and unexpectadly natural.
The woman sitting to my left right now seems obviously French and obviously unhappy with her seat partner...maybe its the big tribal I drew on my left hand. (Present day note: that woman later became my buddy and helped us carry out bags and hail a cab...so much for first impressions, hm?)
On kind of a side note, my observation of Europeans is that they don't seem out to follow trends or impress people as much as they go with the flow and at a relaxed pace. Unlike the money hungry nature of the States everything tends to close between 2-5pm for  what Berns and I decided must be "siesta/le nap" time. The people we meet tend to ask us if our opinions of Europeans has changed since the trip started, but actually the change has instead been from our perceptions of  America and Americans.
