Singing in the sea where nobody could hear you

Aklan island and Boracay island from atop

Boracay still reigns as the queen of the beaches for me.

I fell in love with Boracay the first time I came here five years ago as an escapade with my siblings during the start of a Philippine summer, the time when the whole stretch of this white sand beach starts to become full of life from the people and parties. It was a magical summer then, moreso, even spiritual.

Being in Boracay again now, during the monsoon season, I have seen some changes, some differences (mostly on the administrative system like transportation and additional fees), but I still love it. Even after being hit by a super typhoon last month, it has recovered its glory. Even in this off-peak, monsoon season, this place was still full of life.

The waves may be bigger, but still just ok for swimming or just dipping and yes, even singing! The water was so nice that even if you're already meters away from the shore, the water was still not deep and I took that chance to actually sing my heart out in the sea since nobody could hear me. ;)

On the three days that we were there, the weather was mostly cloudy, with some ocassional drizzles every now and then. It was fine though, because we did have enough time to bask and walk on the beach, take lots of photos and do some shopping. And guess what I got to shop for? Ironically, I got myself a nice blouse and a dress for office! hehehe. Plus, we only needed one sunny day (during our second day) to have a boat tour around the island and voila! We got more tan than we asked for! Lovely! :)

Besides, I got to do the perfect thing on those rainy nights -- write. The sound of the splashing waves and cool breeze set the right mood for me to sort out my thoughts and put them into words. And there's more: on our last night, I actually sang live in a restaurant with an acoustic band! Well, I did warn the staff and the band that I didn't want to shoo away their customers but thankfully there weren't much anyways :P

Being in this paradise made me think that this is life, that maybe I can live in the beach when I retire...? Hmmm, there's a beach for sale on one part of the island. I wonder how much it was...

Haha, we are free to dream, aren't we? ;)
