Becoming Frodo and Isaw Lady
I'm home!!!
My theme for this long vacation is actually this: how to be good to myself. It wasn't just once that I was told I am being too hard on myself so definitely I need to ponder about this. Perhaps it's just because I think too much, therefore leading to all these drama. So I need to start light, take it easy and don't overanalyze things.
Anyways...
My cousin and brother picked me up at the airport. We arrived in our house in Quezon City at about 5:30am. My mom greeted me with a big hug. I wanted to make the most out of my time and so even with no sleep since last night, I tried to stay awake as much as I could. However, at around 7am I finally surrendered to sleep. After a couple of hours, I was wakened up for breakfast/brunch, and even if I would've wanted to stay in my bed and hibernate, I knew I should get up.
Besides, who could resist a cute little niece looking at you from your bedroom door? What more a song and dance performance of Rihanna's Umbrella (ella ella, eh eh eh) ? :)One of my immediate goals for this trip was to fulfill my destiny as the bearer of the rings. Hear ye, hear ye, my little sis and fellow travbuddy member (iamkayanbh) is getting married! And yes, ladies and gentlemen, my mission is to bring home the wedding rings I was requested to get in Singapore (jewelries and diamonds there are indeed really nice, elegant and affordable). So when I still found her at home (running late for work, hehe) when I woke up, I gave her the precioussss. :)
I declared early afternoon as pampering day. Together with my mom, my cousins, my sister in law, my aunt and my niece, we went to a nearby Nail salon and had our nails done :) Then of course, I had my usual stop at the nearby Starbucks as well.
Afterwhich, we went home and feasted on some yummy streetfoods from a roving streetfood vendor. We helped ourselves with barbecued isaw (chicken and pig intentines), fishballs, squidballs and kikiam. We learned that it was the last day in work of this boy seller, as the following day he would change to a new job. He gave us some free fishballs for a treat. It was so nice, to just sit there at the street gutter in front of our house with my family as we ate the streetfoods and had some coke. Simple pleasures are indeed the most enjoyable ones.Late afternoon would be about meetups. I met fellow travbuddy Manuel (manuel_s), who arrived in the Philippines that evening. Then we headed to meet some travbuddy friends for dinner in Makati. It was a long night, with lots of Filipino food and then some drinks at a bar after, until we finally called it a night by midnight. I was driving the whole night and I think I have satisfied myself enough for my missing driving as I drove from Commonwealth Avenue to Ortigas Center to Makati city to Malate to Quezon Avenue to North Avenue and finally back home in Commonwealth Avenue by 2am.
Whew, what a full packed day, huh? And this is just the start! ;-)
