My journey to Luxemburg
When I first to Luxemburg I was surprised how tiny it really is! I planned on going to my ex who lives near Esch-sur-Alzette, twenty minutes from Luxemburg City.
I drove down there after school on a Friday to stay there til Monday evening. I passed Kaiserslautern, Neunkirchen where I changed on the other Autobahn n went on in direction to Merzig where I would pass the border... It was an easy route and heck, Im somebody who gets lost EVERYWHERE :DSo after only 2 hours driving I arrived Esch-sur-Alzette. I thought that now I wouldn't find her but it was super easy cuz I simply had to drive down the main street :] If anybody had told me that time that Esch was the second biggest city in whole Luxemburg I would have started laughing! With about cute 28700 habitants it not big at all! Accordingly you cant do a lot of things there. Anyway, I like the athmosphere there. There are cute houses - some are villa like!
Another time I went to Luxemburg City. Ohh I love this city! If I wasn't so proud of being from Mainz, I'd even say that I like it better there :] No kidding - this city is AMAZING! So beautiful! So calm and still so crowded.
I especially like the parcs there! here some things you should visit when you go there:- railway station: looks like a baroque benedictine abbey, there you can also see the pictures of the four German emperor Luxemburgian origin
- saving bank: looks like a palace! a really impressing building
- Gelle Frae: a monument that reminds of the victims of World War I + II. Ha, when I was there a drunk French man came and looked at the wreaths that were given by different nations. He read the banners and when he said "Germany" he added a "Whoa" and kicked the wreath symbolical. I was sitting next to it, watching the whole thing and started laughing :P Are we Germans still hated by everybody? That is sad. We've changed. We're good people now :] ... at least most of us as far as I an tell!
- Cathedral Notre Dame: Ive just seen it from outside.
- Place Clairefontaine: Fiona told me that she helped the population of Luxmeburg during World War II to bear the German occupying army.
- Palace of the grand duke of Luxemburg: when two soldiers are on guard duty and the flag is hauled up then the duke is present.
- Place d'Armes: kinda like a main square. you're gonna see it anyway if you're in Luxemburg City. :D reminds of when we went partying and the next day we were super hungry so we went to Mc Donalds n ate A LOT!
- Quirinus Chapel: oldest church in Luxemburg. It's kinda hidden and to be honest - nothing really special. I went there to "marry" my girlfriend ;) Gosh, we are such freaks lol
However, I can say that Luxemburg is truly worth visiting! But make sure you know a bit of French and German could be helpful as well ;)
