This morning i met up with Gudny and Estephanie to explore Oslo. They both met me at my hostel so thank you both for not making me trekk across the city trying to find you guys. We first went up to the Ski Jump museum in Oslo, it is WAYYY UP on the hill, and is where one of the main events of the olympics were held. You can walk up to the lift and see just how high it is, and that I would never do something like that lol.
After that me and Estephanie were off to explore more of the city, the Vigland park with all the sculptures, this was really cool and unexpected, very beautifull park, with alot of 'creative' sculptures some a little racier than others. We had fun taking funny photos and exploring the park. We checked out the new Opera House by the docks, which is amazing, the design is such that you can walk up the side of the building and then scale the slanted roof of the structure in order to enjoy some of the best views of Oslo.
First stop, the bar at the Sentral Stasjon, we had a few drinks and I introduced Steph to something new to her, vodka shots :))) After a few drinks, we were ready to continue, but the bartender informed me that first they had no limes for the shot, OK, but then they had no ice... NO ICE??? What kind of a bar is this? Time to change venues... Sounds simple just find the next bar right... WRONG! since SOMEONE forgot to take their ID (hmmm who can that be...) and kept on getting carded... (Honestly she is 21!!!)
We get to a bar, "Can I see your ID?" DAMN! Lets move on...
Next bar, "ID please" CRAP :( We have have been denied by half of the bars on Karl Johans Gate and I AM SOBERING UP!!!
We finally find a place, @ FRIDAYS, I couldn't care where it is, I am just RELIEVED! I can get back to drinking :) The night was awesome, had a bunch of laughs, saw a lot of Oslo, and truly enjoyed my time here.
Some thoughts on Oslo...
Upon exiting the Oslo Sentral Stasjon, yuo see the beginning of a familiar scene/pattern here in Oslo, street contruction/repair. I am not talking about expanding the city or making it look new, apparently for the last few years Oslo has been constantly rebuilding roads, squares its a neverending process (sounds like NY haha). What really amazes me is that not in Denmark or Norway did anyone checked my passport, WHAT??? No passport control, I guess they feel that if the people in London grill you enough with every possible question, they will give you a pass :)
The airport personnel like to have fun too, they roam around the airport on scooters (who says everyone has to grow up) and is really funny to see two airport workers high five eachother while passing on scooters CLASSIC!
Also Oslo Express train to the airport has some meaningless inspectors I thought.
Ok on to Stockholm!
