For the month of May 2008, I took a month off from work to see Europe. Countries traveled too were France, Monaco, Holland, Switzerland, and Spain. For first two weeks, I traveled with my mother to Paris and Holland. Paris is a must see city for any traveler.
The highlights of the trip were the following: In Southern France, I stayed in Nice and easily traveled to Cannes and Monaco.
Sky Diving in Alps
At the Cannes film festival, I saw so many rich and beautiful people. I stood next to the red carpet and saw so many European actors and actresses. The film to debut was a French film by Phillipe Garrell, so I didn't recognize anyone from the cast. In Nice, I enjoyed the pebble beach. In Monaco, the grand prix formula 1 race was coming up. On one day, I walked the track and saw the teams preparing all the cars. Next day, I saw the race but bought the cheapest tickets in "secteur rocher" translated to Rocky Section. It would have been worth upgrading because I had to push through people to fight for a good standing position.
Next high light was visiting Switzerland. I enjoyed partying in Bern, Geneva, and Zurich. I met up with a friend from high school who moved to Switzerland to learn the art of Chocolate. She showed me around the cities and went out drinking every night. Then, in Internlaken Switzerland, I enjoyed many outdoor activities.
Interlaken is a great place to enjoy the Jungfau region, but not great for a party scene. Most of the tourist are Indian, which made me feel at home because I live in India. I went skydiving from a helicopter, which was the most amazing experience ever. I biked 40 kms around the lake, and swam everyday at the park surrounded by the majestic mountains.
Another high light was partying in Spain. Both Barcelona and Madrid is full of night life. Barcelona obviously has the Las Ramblas where people commonly stay up late. Barcelona is not a nice beach location. Draw of Barcelona is the food and architecture. I found Madrid to be much more exciting night life. At , people are still out wandering around El Sol.
After seeing all the other majestic cities, the architecture of Madrid didn't impress. I enjoyed going to the bullfight, definite gruesome show. I bought tickets from a shady guy near the stadium but worth it.
After Spain, I had a flight through Zurich for one more stop in Switzerland. Euro 2008 is the biggest party to come to Switzerland. Huge street packed with people watching the opening game. My team to root for is Croatia because I have grandfather from Croatia.
All other the trip was amazing. I met alot of people along the way. Sometimes I was lonely but it is okay. Recommendations from the trip are to buy the Eurail pass. The 550 Euro cost allowed me to travel by train for the entire month, but having it saved me at least another 500 euros. Reservations of the trains are required most of the time and cost a small extra. I used Venre.com for the hotel booking, so I never worried about finding a hotel. Next time I will book 2 star hotels instead of staying in the 4 star hotels. Not worth the convenience.
Please anyone wants recommendations on these places message me.
