Sleepless in Kansas City

That wake up call came way too quickly and now it was time for James and I to get Melanie out of bed and ready to go! She bounced right up and we repacked our stuff and were ready to go. I called RJ who sounded like the walking dead and he said he’d be napping down in the lobby. We got downstairs and he reminded me of a homeless person who was all disoriented and almost drunk as he barely opened his eyes. Morning, sleep deprived RJ is much quieter than the crazy, hyper RJ I just spent the last few days with….I didn’t realize he had an “off” switch. HA HA.
The ride to the airport was somewhat sad as we filled in blanks on some of the weekend events and talked about future trips and plans.
Choking back tears, I head over to the Burger King counter to try and eat something since I have a long flight ahead of me and mind you, I literally got out of bed, brushed my teeth, and got ready for the airport. The guy behind the counter is flirting with me….at 5:30am! He’s asking about the special guy in my life and how lucky he must be and I am totally sleep deprived but also out of it from the goodbyes and I was like “huh?” And he proceeded again to delve into my personal life to which I managed some sort of reply. Then he hands me my food and wishes me a glorious day and I think he asked me to come see him before my flight leaves. He winked at me and brushed his hand against mine as he handed me the bag. OMG…why me? I guess it’s a compliment I can still get hit on with swollen eyes, no makeup, flat hair, and in somewhat of pj’s….
I sat right by Mel and RJ’s plane so I could watch them take off and once they are gone, I head to my gate to finish some more blogging and get ready to head back to Sacramento with a layover at LAX. I get to my gate and OMG…had I known the set up at the gates, I wouldn’t have hung out in the lounge. Leather chairs each with their own outlets. SWEET. I instantly plugged in my computer as it was about to die, especially since I got the extra pat down and the bag rummaged through which I had to put back together. Yeah, great to be next to the hot guy who’s watching as I stuff all my female stuff back in the duffel bag. Between the cute TSA guy who was doing the rummaging and the hot passenger, I am sure Rudolph had nothing on the shade of red my face turned.
My flights were uneventful – both packed. I had a short layover only in LA so it was right back on the plane and I blogged a little but I kept nodding off since I was so sleepy. …back home….and back to reality. :-(
