I Can Hear it Since It's Vibrating in My Mouth (Second Night in Vegas)
As planned, I woke up super early to get some work done before enjoying a glorious afternoon by the pool with Lisa.
It turns out I have to work longer than planned so Lisa and I head out the pool with laptop in hand. I figure I can sit out in the shade, take advantage of her neighbors who don’t know how to secure their wireless networks, and get my work done there. HA HA.
We get out by the pool and as typical Vegas weather, it’s miserably warm, well over 100 degrees I am sure.
We hang out, catch up on stuff, and meet some of Lisa’s neighbors. Now, for a totally random moment - Lisa is chatting with another Mom at the pool about stuff when the lady asks if Lisa has kids - which she does have a daughter who happened to be at her Dad’s this week. Turns out the two have daughters who are the same age and ironically went to the same day care at one point. What’s amazing is my friend Lisa’s daughter Emma, ends up being this little girl’s long lost best friend. LOL! Lisa had moved daycare facilities and they didn’t think they’ve ever see Emma again. What are the odds that in all of
Unfortunately, we had to go as it was getting late and Lisa and I still had to shower and get ready to pick up Melanie at
There was a bad accident on the freeway and for those that don’t know what Vegas traffic is like in an accident situation, yeah, it’s frightening. You could reach your destination faster by walking on the freeway instead! We finally get to Sushi Mon, about an hour behind schedule so it’s time to chow so we can try to get to the Blue Martini early since we were told it fills up right away when the doors open at 4pm. We hurry hurry and of course, we are running behind and don’t get to BM until after
Now, in addition to my RLFs we were meeting, I was RSVP’d in another social group that was meeting at the Blue Martini - supposedly 75 people from the Meetup.
com group - Las Vegas Nightlife. I spotted their tables right away but we didn’t want to bombard them since I had like 10-15 people with me. While we were killing time, Melanie and I went and talked to Desiree about organizing her event there as we were thinking of changing the pre-meet venue to here for the September event Mel and I are co-hosting.
Turns out Desiree is a HUGE travel buff and leads these adventure tours and trips through places like REI, etc. She is obviously interested in TravBuddy and we are totally interested in her knowledge, expertise, and resources. She invited us to several more events she is hosting and we hope to see her again soon as well as on TravBuddy!
Outside on our inferno tables, my RLFs are slowly showing up. One of my attorneys at work, Steve, is meeting us and invited some of the local well known plaintiff attorney firms in town.
Recognized some faces, and met some new ones. My RLF Michelle shows up along with my teammate and friend, Mark, and Lisa’s friend Jess makes it as well. It’s a pretty small group which was nice but it definitely was too warm outside and began to zap our energy. After a few martinis (which I learned Pomegranate is my favorite now), we decided to head home around
We decide on going to Red Rock as Blue Martini is beyond packed as the live band had just come on when we were leaving.
First stop at Red Rock is guess where?!?!? Melanie had to have ice cream! HA HA. We stop by the food court and she stops by Ben and Jerry’s while I spot Capriotti’s. Capriotti’s was my favorite sandwich place when I lived in Vegas and although I was not very hungry, I had to eat a Bobbie!!! Michael opted to get something at Rubio’s and we were off to the Lucky Bar which was the venue for the March Meet Up!
Tracy (Tre69) and I had recently talked about the drinks we had there that night - the Dead Red….oooooooo. So in
Mel was a bit tipsy from her shots and managed to rattle off quite a number of funnies that I tried to write and keep track of as much as I could but they were all coming so fast, I couldn’t keep up! LOL. Here are a few that I remember:
- My head is one big heartbeat
- I left my leg in San Francisco
- I am laughing and I have no idea why
- What is going on here? I feel like I have a big monkey wrench between my head (how many heads do you have Melanie? LOL)
- This is my favorite I think. ...We are headed home in the car talking about penguin sheets when Mel tells us her favorite animals are black panthers, penguins, and hippos. She asks us what noise a hippo makes and then tries to imitate one (which Michael and I hear nothing). When I tell her I didn't hear anything she says, "Well, I can hear it because it's vibrating in my mouth!"
- OMG, we are on a freeway and it feels like we are moving really fast
- This is how I felt in Los Angeles...like I am floooooating
- OMG, this is where I live!
- "Erin, I am wearing sunglasses and you know what that means, right?"
- "I want to sleep with a mushroom! OMG, did I just say I want to sleep with a mushroom?"
- Did you say hi to my frog? You MUST say hi to my frog. His name is booger.
And Michael had one too!! HA HA. We were talking about his suits and ties and he says, "I have a hard time picking the right ties to match my skirts" :-)
What a fun night! I am so happy Michael called us and we got to hang out. Looking forward to seeing him close to home here and at future TB meets!!
