San Diego Week - Day 6 - Party Time
Still not over the hangover completely, and some of the details are a bit fuzzy. All I rememer is that there was a lot of beer, drunk out of innocent water bottles. I know alcohol is banned at Pacific Beach, but hey, I wasn't the only one who fell off the wagon. Those who weren't drinking were already drunk. I mean, heck, how difficult is it to go to a pub, fill up the tank, and then head back to the beach? Some idiots even pushed out into the water to get drunk, so technically they weren't drinking 'on' the beach.
Earlier, we were at SeaWorld, and the parking was full, and the overflow lot was almost full too. Later went to the Gaslamp Quarter, but might as well have tried to get into Fort Knox. Not a single tiny parking space left. Crush of people, and it looked like the whole of California had come down to San Diego to join in on the 4th of July festivities. If only there were so many things to do in San Diego all year round, the County would get more visitors than both Anaheim and Orlando put together.
But the place to be at in San Diego was the Silver Strand State Beach, near Coronado. The other beaches have banned alcohol, but the spirits were flowing freely at Silver Strand. The parking, as we were now getting used to, was full up, and we were kicked out even before we got in. Walked in later in the afternoon, and Oh Brother! This is what you call a party. Thousands of people, mostly drunk, BBQs drawing crowds, and well.. You get the picture. Never got to go to the ballpark, but I guess it was all ok in the end. San Diego rocks!
