Welcoming Fatih and his cousin Ahmet in my hometown Offenburg
August 23, 2008
Actually Fatih is not really a TB friend - he is much more than this... Anyway I am posting this in my "TB friends" blog ;-)
Friday: Welcome to Offenburg
Well... Fatih and his cousin Ahmet came to Offenburg Friday evening on their 35 day trip through Europe.
They were arriving 22h20 at Offenburg station where I picked them up and together we went home.
This evening we were just talking and they were telling about their trip to me and my Mum.
Cause all of us were really tired we went to bed not too late that night.
Saturday: Sightseeing in Offenburg and getting wet in Strasbourg
Saturday morning we were starting with a big breakfast in our home.
After that we went to Offenburg and walked around the city.
We were visiting the market place and the "Fish market", the main street, some churches and the old park around the city wall.
As next step we went to the Ortenberg castle, had a short visit over there and went to Strasbourg after that.
In Strasbourg we started with a boat trip on the river Ill. From the boat we saw many places like the European Parliament and also "Petite France".
After the boat trip we visited the cathedral and than we planned going to the old part of Strasbourg - to the "petite France" area.
On our way it started to rain. Within minutes it was raining so hardly that we were completely wet even we were standing under some roofs..
Even we were really so wet we had to laugh so much about that !
Then we walked around the old part of Strasbourg and after that we went back home again.
After 1 hour relaxing at home we went to Oberkirch to have dinner in an old restaurant ( http://www. schauenburg.de/gastronomie/index_s_stern.html ) there. It s one of the famoust restaurants in the region where the writer and poet Grimmelshausen were also staying.
So we were ending the day eating some "Flammekuchen" what is a speciality of this region.
Sunday: Black Forrest Trip to Triberg's Waterfall and eating Menemen at home
Today we went to the Black Forrest. Also a friend of mine, Tobias, was joining us.
We went to Triberg to see the Waterfall - this is Germany highest waterfall. We were walking around and then went back towards Offenburg.
In Gengenbach, a small town 10 km away from Offenburg, we had another stop-over to have an ice cream.
Than we went back home and in the evening we were cooking Menemen.
At half past seven Fatih and Ahmet had to leave and catch their train towards Ljubljana.
Of course it was hard to say Good-Bye but: we will meet next week in Vienna!!! So it was not too hard bringing them to the station ;-)
So we had really a great weekend all together and of course we were laughing again so much together and had so much fun!
Now I am looking forward to meet each other in Vienna again ;-)
