Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines
There are only two places in the Philippines that White Water Rafting is known for. One is the Cagayan Valley, which is located in the northern part of the country (Luzon area) and the other one is in my hometown, Cagayan de Oro City (Mindanao area), which is in the sourthern part of the country.
For the past few years, white water rafting in CDO has been making waves not just locally but internationally, as well. Adventure-seekers from all parts of the world have been captivated by this extremely thrilling ride. Aside from the fact that the goods and services in CDO is pretty much cheaper compared to Manila (Capital city of the Philippines), there's so much you can do, also, around the city and nearby towns.
I must say that this was one of the highlights amongst all of my long vacation trips to my hometown because this was my very first water rafting ride! The good thing about it was that I was only able to tag along with me my cousin Venice and my brother Karlo since, everyone was so busy with work and/or school. I don't want to take the ride all by myself. That's crazy. I won't be able to share the wonderful experience to someone close to me.
Surprisingly, it was also my cousin's first time to take the ride but as for my brother, it was already his second! But he was excited still because we were taking the advanced course rather than the beginner's.
For the entire water rafting ride, we cruised 12.34 km range on our very own Cagayan de Oro river and bumped 24 rapids (14 major rapids).
During the entire run, altogether, we were 9 rafts. Each raft has at least 7 participants and 2 guides. We were led by Mael who is one of the delegates in the recent World White Water Rafting Tournament which was held in Korea.
WARNING: This is an extremely addicting sport! I can't wait to go home and take my second ride. *excited!*
