"Well Kurt, back to your apartment, we actually gotta get going to get Jake back on time and we gotta see the Grand Canyon since we're out here so we'll unload your stuff and see you later!" (Talk about me being a jerk of a brother, almost leaving him on the side of the road).
So the morning was checking into the apartment, saying adios to my bro and then hitting up the Grand Canyon. We were just blown away. Not only at the amazing sights of the grand canyon, but also trying to think back to the first Europeans or the Native Americans as they were traveling across the area exploring, trying to find something, and then there it is.
We continued on our way taking a new route home (why not see more of the country when you can) spending the night at a rest stop outside of Las Vegas, New Mexico before hitting the road at sunrise the next morning and returning straight through to Wisconsin. As we were rolling into Wisconsin we were taking bets on how many miles we traveled and were floored when the trip mileage rolled over to 4000 miles as we approached my driveway. Road Trip #1 complete.
