The Surfers' Haven With No Available Surfboard Rental
June 6, 2008
Out of 6 people that have agreed to join on this trip, only 4 turned up. :) Not bad at all. ;) But the thing is, the one who suggested this place was one of those persons who didn't make it. Nice! ;) Anyway, we carried on. Packed our bags and headed out. Alright, I wasn't carrying anything because I stuffed all my "essentials" in my brother's bag...even my IDs, ATM cards, my phone, all of it! :) So if I got lost, abducted, murdered or whatever...there's no way to identify me but with the camera I have tied around my wrist. Haha! ;)
We arrived at around 3:30pm in Daet and took a tricycle to Bagasbas about 5km away. :) We got off all sweaty and hungry (or maybe it was just me. I know I just ate a full meal 2 hours ago, but hey!) but of course our first inclination was to look for a place to stay which didn't prove to be so hard since there's only one at the end of the road. :P It costs 500php/night among the 4 of us. For a rural place, it's good enough. You have water running down the faucet (upon request), twin beds with clean sheets, lights are put on until morning and the place is quiet - too peaceful, even - because there's no one there but us. It is creepy, I should say. You'd hear the sounds cows and sheeps make instead of irritating criquets. If you want karaoke and a beer, you can go to one of those pubs that locals frequent. Most people there when drunk don't just look for some crazy fun, they look for trouble. There have been a few times where my brothers get silly comments from these losers at each store we go to (which is usually attached to a mini-bar). So if you want to stay out of it, you better have your beer in your room and settle with the mp3s saved on your mobile phone. ;) That's what we did. ;) My brothers just told us to avoid those places because they didn't want to get into any fight because of me..err, us - girls! hahaha! :P
In the morning, we went for a swim! :) And my brothers, who still can't get enough of skimboarding, practiced some more. :) The kid named John Paul from the day before who taught them how to do it was there again asking us where we're going to have lunch - that's because we bought him dinner last night. ;) I have also tried skimboarding and it was fun - it just hurts when you fall. I twisted my ankle in one of those several attempts of getting on the board. :P But you will never learn if you don't keep on trying. Well, my efforts didn't end in vain because I was able to do it. Yay! I should just pick up the right speed (to chase the board) at the right time. ..next time!
